    Mr. Theron Wallace Boyd, Sr., age 77, a resident of 314 South White Post Road, Pinetown, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his home.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, January 20, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington and other times at the home. A private memorial is planned for a later date.

    Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on November 17, 1936. He was the son of the late William Rodman Boyd and Velsa Wallace Boyd. Mr. Boyd was raised by his grandparents, George and Fannie Wallace. He graduated from Bath High School, attending all 12 years without missing a day, played and lettered in all sports and drove a school bus for two years. He was a Master Mason and Shriner. Mr. Boyd served 10 years as Captain of the Turtle Patrol. He recently received a certificate acknowledging his 50 years as a Master Mason.

    Mr. Boyd suffered from Myasthenia Gravis, a neuromuscular disorder. He was the sole survivor of four original members of the Myasthenia Gravis Grant Program at the National Institutes of Health.

    Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Carolyn Boyd of the home: two sons, Michael Haywood Boyd and wife Debbie of Washington, Theron "Tee" Wallace Boyd, Jr. and wife, Melissa of Henderson; two stepsons, Zeffie Jones and wife, Emily of Pinetown, Christopher Jones and wife, Brenda of Aurora; step daughter, Vannessa Wilkerson and husband, Sam of Pinetown; step daughter in law, Lynn Jones of Washington; 13 grandchildren, Kevin Boyd, Brad Boyd, Abbey Boyd, Phillip Woolard, Miranda Harrell, Nikki Whealton, Ashley Whealton, Stormy Jones, Cory Jones, Cameron Jones, Kaley Jones, Tara Wilkerson and Little Sam Wilkerson; four great grandchildren and his best pal, Colby, his dog.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherri Boyd; a brother, Gailin "Bud" Boyd; infant daughter, Mary Ellen Boyd and a step son, Robbie Jones.
