    Mrs. Mildred Sparrow Bennett Tetterton, age 97, a resident 161 Black Road, Washington, NC, died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at 1:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor David Linton and Rev. Lee Hendricks. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Ray David Moore, Mitchell Jackson, Phil Black, Phil Garris, Murphy Woolard and Tom Holloman will serve as pallbearers.

    Mrs. Tetterton was born in Prince George County, VA, on January 3, 1917 to the late Guy Smith Bennett and Sally Mallison Bennett. Mrs. Tetterton graduated from Washington High School. On December 23, 1936 she married the late Howard Webster Tetterton, who preceded her in death on July 4, 1980. Mrs. Tetterton was a homemaker and a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.

    Mrs. Tetterton is survived by two daughters, Augusta T. Jackson of New Bern, NC and Norma T. Nobles of Blounts Creek, NC, a daughter-in-law, Diane L. Tetterton of Albemarle, NC, five grandchildren, Teresa T. Alligood and husband Jeff, Amanda J. Carawan, Tammy T. Holloman and husband Tom, Brad Tetterton and Bryan M. Jackson, six great grandchildren and one great- great grandson and a devoted caregiver, Kathleen Latham of Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tetterton was preceded in death by a son, Howard Bradford Tetterton, a brother, Guy Smith Bennett, Jr and three sisters, Veva B. Fleming, Lena B, Cox and Lola B. Wright.

    The family wishes to thank Ascera Care Hospice for their care during this time.

    The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 4:00p.m.-6:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    Mrs. Phyllis Jane Carroll Jarvis, age 59 a resident of 22 Magnolia Way, Grantsboro, NC died Saturday January 25, 2014 at Grantsbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

    A Celebration of Mrs. Jarvis' life will be held 2 p.m. Monday January 27, 2014 at Christ Vision Church officiated by Pastor Ray Webb. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery of Washington.

    The family will receive friends 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Monday at Christ Vision Church of Blounts Creek, NC.

    Mrs. Jarvis was born in Galesburg, IL on April 22, 1954 daughter of Richard Wayne Carroll who survives and Alice LaRue Kennon Lester who survives. She married Carl Maxton Jarvis, Jr. who survives. Mrs. Jarvis was a member of Christ Vision Church who loved to play bingo and watching Disney movies and the Disney Channel.

    Surviving along with Mrs. Jarvis' husband: Carl of Grantsboro; mother: Alice LaRue Kennon Lester of Chesapeake, VA and father: Richard Wayne Carroll of Galesburg, IL are two brothers: Wayne Carroll of Chesapeake, VA and John Carroll of Blackstone, VA; two sisters: Mary Carroll-Riedel and Gail Carroll both of Chesapeake, VA; her mother-in-law: Lily Melvin Smith Jarvis of Aurora and many nieces and nephews.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly request for memorials to be made to Christ Vision Church, building fund, 15001 NC Hwy 33 E., Blounts Creek, NC 27814.
