Meth Lab Busted on Camp Leach Road | Eastern NC Now

On March 7, 2014, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Herbert Lee Garriss, age 46, of 2145 Camp Leach Road in Washington and Angela Garriss, age 44, also of 2145 Camp Leach Road in Washington.

    On March 7, 2014, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested Herbert Lee Garriss, age 46, of 2145 Camp Leach Road in Washington and Angela Garriss, age 44, also of 2145 Camp Leach Road in Washington. Their arrests stemmed from Patrol Deputies responding to the residence to assist a local business in recovering suspected stolen property. Deputies made contact with Herbert Garriss and entered a shop located on the property. Deputies witnessed in plain view plastic bottles associated with the “One Pot” method of manufacturing methamphetamine that were actively cooking. Patrol Deputies cleared the building and Investigators with the Drug Unit, as well as Agents with the SBI Clandestine Lab Division responded to the scene.

    After obtaining a search warrant for the residence and the shop Investigators with the Drug Unit assisted SBI Clandestine Lab Agents in processing the scene. Evidence of several “One Pot” methamphetamine cooks was located in the shop. Precursor chemicals and solvents used to manufacture methamphetamine, as well as three grams of prepackaged methamphetamine and digital scales, were also seized from the shop. A search of the residence revealed evidence of methamphetamine use including snorting straws and smoking straws. As a result of the search warrant 11 firearms were seized from the property.

    Herbert Lee Garriss was arrested and charged with Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possess/Distribute Methamphetamine Precursors, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine, Maintaining a Dwelling to Facilitate Drug Activity and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Angela Garriss was arrested and charged with Possess/Distribute Methamphetamine Precursors and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Herbert Garriss was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under no bond. Angela Garriss was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.

On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:
Today I officially filed for re-election, seeking to continue my service to the citizens of Beaufort County.
On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
