Born: December 21, 1929, Died: March 13, 2014

    Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Waters Elzey-Hewitt, age 84, a resident of 324 River Road, Washington Park, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at River Trace Nursing Center.

    Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, March 17, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in St. Clair's Church of Christ Cemetery.

    Mrs. Elzey-Hewitt was born in Beaufort County on December 21, 1929 to the late William and Eva Mae Keech Waters. She was a 1948 graduate of Pantego High School and received her associate degree in Registered Nursing from Beaufort Community College. She was retired from Beaufort County Hospital and was a member of St. Clair's Church of Christ. Mrs. Elzey-Hewitt was married to John Mace Elzey, John Allen Hewitt and Nathaniel Giles, all who preceded her in death.

    Survivors include three daughters, Beverly E. Foreman and husband Charles of Washington, Barbara E. "Barbie" Alligood and husband Tommy of Washington, Eva Hewitt Leggett and husband Jeffery of Washington, two sons, Jonathan Mark Elzey and wife JoAnn of Bath, Michael P. Elzey and wife Betty of Bath, one brother, Ernest S. Waters and wife Faye of Pinetown, ten grandchildren, Michelle E. Hardison, Melissa D. Braddy, Michael F. Norman II, Chasity A. Bowe, Jonathan M. Elzey II, Patrick A. Elzey, David Allen Dew II, Brigette A. Elzey, Caroline E. Elzey, Lenia K. Saiid, six step grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by one son, John Allen "Chip" Hewitt II, six brothers and four sisters.

    The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of her daughter, Barbie and Tommy Alligood, 324 River Road in Washington Park.
