For Immediate Release:

DAVIDSON, NC     Thom Tillis, conservative candidate for US Senate and North Carolina House Speaker, tonight used a Republican US Senate Primary debate to focus his message on Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan. He displayed a clear contrast between his record of conservative results and her record of rubber-stamping the Obama/Reid agenda.

"Kay Hagan has failed the people of North Carolina," Tillis said. "We need a Senator who will clean up the mess she has created with Harry Reid and Barack Obama. I have spent three years solving her problems in Raleigh and I will continue that work in Washington."

At various points in the debate, Tillis delivered a message of unity for conservatives. "I am in this race to articulate a message of leadership, defeat Kay Hagan, and help regain a Republican majority in the US Senate," Tillis said. "I'm not interested in divisive tactics that pit conservatives against one another. I'm focused on uniting conservatives to defeat Harry Reid and Kay Hagan in November."

Tillis also continued his attack on the President's healthcare plan supported by Hagan. "Obamacare cannot be fixed and must be repealed, period," said Tillis. "It has increased the cost of health insurance, resulted in hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians losing their coverage, cost many others to lose their doctor and robbed more than $700 billion from Medicare. It has to go."

The debate was held at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. Tillis will participate in two other televised debates over the next seven days. The primary election will be held on May 6th. For more information, visit www.thomtillis.com.
