Jones Votes to Hold VA Accountable | Eastern North Carolina Now

   News Release:

“Our veterans are not receiving the quality of care that they were promised. That is absolutely unacceptable.”

WASHINGTON, D.C.     Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) voted in favor of legislation aimed at improving accountability at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). H.R. 4031, the Department of Veterans Affairs Management Accountability Act, would allow the secretary of the VA to remove any official displaying poor job performance. The legislation comes after widespread reports of mismanagement at VA offices across the country.

“Our men and women in uniform have made incredible sacrifices for us, and they deserve to receive the highest standard of care,” said Congressman Jones. “However, recent reports – in addition to the long-standing VA claims backlog – have made it clear that our veterans are not receiving the quality of care that they were promised. That is absolutely unacceptable. This legislation is the first step in holding the VA accountable for its mistakes.”
