On August 26, 2014, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Michael Claude Myers, 36 years of age, of 11023 Hwy. 306 South in Aurora and Tammy Rana Carawan, 29 years of age of 11023 Hwy. 306 South in Aurora.

    On August 26, 2014, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Michael Claude Myers, 36 years of age, of 11023 Hwy. 306 South in Aurora and Tammy Rana Carawan, 29 years of age of 11023 Hwy. 306 South in Aurora. They were charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Marijuana.

    Their arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting surveillance on an abandoned single wide trailer located at 324 Dublin Run Road in Aurora. Investigators learned that Myers and Carawan were using the abandoned trailer to (cook) Manufacture Methamphetamine. Investigators conducted a traffic stop on Myers and Carawan after they departed from the abandoned trailer. Investigators found Methamphetamine, Marijuana and known items used to manufacture methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

    Investigators returned to the abandoned trailer and conducted a search. Investigators found known ingredients used in the ' One-Pot ' method to make methamphetamine such as Coleman Fuel, Sodium Hydroxide, Muriatic Acid, Lithium Batteries and Ammonium Nitrate.

    The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations responded to the scene and assisted in collecting evidence and removing toxic materials. Several used ' One-Pot ' method cooks were discovered inside the abandoned trailer.

    Myers and Carawan were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under no bond.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.

On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:
Today I officially filed for re-election, seeking to continue my service to the citizens of Beaufort County.
On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
