The Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center Announces October Programs for Cancer Patients, Survivors and Caregivers | Eastern North Carolina Now

    (Washington, NC)     The Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center offers a variety of special programs and activities to help cancer patients, survivors as well as their primary caregivers deal with the emotional and physical challenges associated with having cancer. The Cancer Center's vision is to provide integrative therapies that complement traditional care at no cost to the participant. The programs are not limited to patients of the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, any survivor or caregiver is welcome!

    Healing Words – 6-week journaling program     Thursday, October 9th; 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

    Local pastor and cancer survivor, Joan Fischer will offer a workshop designed to teach survivors and caregivers how to deal with the emotions that cancer brings. Join us at the Brown Library for this 6-week complementary program beginning Thursday, October 9th. Participants will experience a new found peace in learning how to journal about themselves or a loved one’s cancer diagnosis. Each participant will receive a journal. Pre-registration is required.     Therapeutic Massage

    FREE 20 minute hand, foot, or chair massage each week for patients, survivors, and caregivers. We have 2 locations in Washington for your massage. Call either location for your appointment! Cancer Center (252) 975-4308 or Market Street Massage (252) 946-8989.

    Restorative Yoga & Meditation

    Yoga classes that emphasize relaxation for the body, mind, and spirit. Every Monday at 4:00 pm at Vidant Wellness Center Pre-registration is not required.

    Look Good...Feel Better - brought to you by the American Cancer Society     Monday, October 13th at 2:00 pm

    A hands-on group session for adult female cancer survivors currently in treatment who are coping with the side effects of chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment. Pre-registration is required. Held at the Cancer Center.
