Voter Short Term Memory | Eastern North Carolina Now

This article gets back out the record book of how things were 6+ years ago when we elected our current President. It gives both good and bad of the current Administration. It, however, cites the WORSE of what we had at the time: RAGING RECESSION.

What amazes me is the STUPIDITY of EVERY voter to think any President in this country is a dictator who, at the wave of a pen, can make radical changes in America. We have a political system purposely constructed with THREE BRANCHES of government: Executive / Legislative / Judicial. Each is wisely given powers to debate and decide against the other! It forces us to move more slowly than a King or Dictator might do in other places.

Perhaps Pogo was right in the 60's

"We have met the enemy and it is US!"

"Power corrupts / Absolute Power corrupts absolutely" --- is a famous saying of old. It came out of the situation in England and Europe from which our ancestors revolted. We fought the Revolutionary War for the right to exercise Democracy! Scarborough family research shows my ancestors moving from southern VA into Edgecombe County, NC, and on to Madison County, GA. Over at Saratoga is a Scarborough house still standing. I hope to visit it soon. The Revolutionary War was real in my family.

Why be stupid and forget what really took place over Americans wanting freedom from taxes and abuse from the Ruling Elite? Sadly, we are trying to return to EXACTLY what our ancestors left! 1% of Americans now own a majority of the money. That's never wise nor good. We did not return to the excess of wealth and power overnight. It has been a gradual slope.

We had best wake up before the sound of rushing water becomes a raging waterfall that carries us back to the valley from whence we came.

The lifetime I have experienced began right after WWII. My father and his tenant farm family along with my granddaddy, a SC farmer, both experienced the ravages of the wealthy owning America and its money. The "lead up" to the Great Depression came out of the Roaring 20's. Everyone thought "Happy Days are Here Again" after WWI --- and it would never end. Slowly but surely people put all their money in Stocks and Banks, just knowing "it was safe." The crash of the Market and Banks generated mass starvation, foreclosures, and people moving in herds from the Dust Bowl of poor conservation toward a California of their dreams. It was just another chapter of more risk and less return!

Why do we so quickly forget the lesson of "If your out-go exceeds your in-come / your up-keep will be your down-fall???" That is Economics 101. If you forget history and basic facts, then you do stupid things all over again!

Since the advent of VooDoo Supply Side Economic theory and tax code, we have been like sheep headed to a slaughter. Its concept is great: "Let taxes be less on the rich and they will then let the money trickle down to the working people of the US."

If they got rich with benevolence, then it would work. Sadly, most got their riches through blind luck or sleazy business dealings. Even they forget the path and --- for some stupid reason think --- "I earned it and deserve to keep it all."

    NO ---- HELL NO!!!

The Hebrews conquered the Promised Land. They had 10 Commandments and Founders to guide them to success. No sooner than they got rich and powerful did they take their eyes off Yahweh! Soon you had lawyers and Kings fudging the Commandments and neglecting the less fortunate. Each time God sent Prophets to warn them, but they chased them out of town throwing rocks.

The average thinker sees prophecy as someone looking into a crystal ball. According to an old book by E. Clinton Gardner, an Emory Professor, about prophecy---it is really people calling on God's people to "reconcile in the here and now." Break it down: "get together" in the here and now! Honor one another and help one another rather than prey on the weak like vultures.

Now it is your turn to do some thinking!

    · Are we really getting financially stronger under the current Tax Code?

    · Is a simplistic "hate of the President" going to solve problems and improve America?

    · Is it wise to hold down the economy for the sole purpose of making the President and his party look bad?

    · Is it wiser to put down the bats of Party Hate and Fear to help all Americans get better?

    · Can we continue to spend billions on war and let our bridges and infrastructure collapse?

    · Why can't we quit fighting and dividing --- to simply seek to do good for all?

    NO ---- HELL NO!!!

I will have to be our salesman as I now move to market our products, so I will be away a bit more, but the good part, I have two other part timers that can do part of what I can do.

I've waited a long time, but the good part is that our products are getting better and we are creating others - products that heretofore have not been offered in this area, in may areas for that area.
