Not just an election, but a restraining order. | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's note: Brant Clifton continues to keep a keen eye on the Republicans who won the U.S. Senate race in his "bare knuckles" Conservative online publication known as The Daily Haymaker.

It is absolutely amazing how many people have reacted to the recently completed elections in the same fashion as they would to athletic events. Yay, Blue Devils! Yay, Panthers! Yay, Thom!

The recently completed campaigns were so devoid of substantive content that they honestly became comparable to ACC football or basketball skirmishes. It was all about who gets bragging rights, rather than who has the plan to get us out of the mess we're in.

I find myself in agreement with Erick Erickson and Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday's vote. It was NOT about how much we love Thom Tillis or want Mitch McConnell to get a new office and a new title. The polls all across the nation indicate that people were sending a message to Barack Hussein Obama.

We did it, as well, in 2010, and got a whole lot of excuses about how Harry Reid won't let anything happen. Now, THAT excuse is gone.

Tuesday evening, Tillis admitted that he knew a lot of his support came from people voting AGAINST Obama. He then went on to talk about wanting to be bipartisan and work with the Democrats and the president. (Did you hear what Rush said, Thom?)

The new GOP majority likely has two good years before things really get tough. The electoral map for the Senate looks a lot less friendly in 2016. There will be a competitive presidential across the country AND a competitive gubernatorial race here. (Enjoy those car and pizza and retail ads while you can. It won't be long before the Super PACs kick back into gear.)

I didn't hear ANYBODY saying, on their way to the polls, "I want a new senator so he can work with Obama some more." People want so much gridlock that not one more iota of the Obama agenda can see daylight. They want this mess that has killed economic growth, slowed hiring, and is in the process of destroying the world's greatest healthcare delivery system REVERSED POST-HASTE.

A lot of people, I think, believed that voting Republican saved the nation. Arguably, it simply reduced the speed of this out-of-control truck, with bad brakes and headed toward the cliff, from 110 mph to about 85.

In 2010, we patted ourselves on the back after election day and went back to our business. This time, we need to keep the heat on these people to make sure they live up to their promises and act in the best interests of the country — instead of their political careers.

We're not going anywhere. And neither should you.

Which is very sad. These are dark days.

I can still hear the insipid refrain of "GM is alive and Osama bin Laden is dead(!)" ringing in my ears. What a freak show?

That's his name. It bespeaks a broad heritage and cultural exposure ~~~ far more than you or me, brother!!!

Barack Hussein Obama?

Forget the political party stuff, my brother. You are the one who refuses to simply "agree to disagree," --- and that gets us into Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder which afflicted such well-known people as Howard Hughes---and, possibly, Adolf Hitler / Alger Hiss / Richard Nixon / if I had more space many noted names could be listed quickly!

Gene, why do Democrats find offense when others blame the obvious as a basis for correcting the problem.

Is it that they just can not conceive the obvious?

Reaction-Formation is a bad Psychosis as well as Rationalization and blaming!!!

I'm just getting warmed up on Obama.

I will never understand the romantic devotion to someone of so little ability by all of you that voted for him. It's not that he faked you guys out, he did say he would govern as he has, except for the lying.

I don't anyone could ever fathom that he would be such a liar, so dishonest in his dealings with the American people.

But an incompetent ideologue, he showed that early on.

I suppose I should bow to your "superior knowledge" of all things Obama ~~~ but I won't!

I shall simply "agree to disagree" with you, my brother and fellow thinker!

After blaming Bush for 5 years, this is Obama's: economy, Benghazi, losing Iraq war, Syria, illegal immigration debacle, cold war reinvigorated, Iran with a nuclear weapon, multiple scandals that would have impeached any Republican, and yes, being an Affirmative Action Black man will not save him any longer.

You call it hate, I call it saving the nation.

Just wait until the RNC in 2016 ~~~ see if Reagan's corpse won't be paraded and we still have his damned Tax Code, bro. People who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

. . . But your are young and conservative and most smart so I just bow down and wait for your eyes to open---hopefully.

NEVER does a President make instant changes nor any event like Bengazi define us. How quickly you seem to forget Iran/Contra, Ollie North, the hate which led to Kennedy's assassination. Surely the economic meltdown happened because of Obama ~~~it matters not that old George Bush was in office ~~~ it's that black man pretending to be President that did it ALL!!!!

In case you haven't noticed, Reaganomics was 30 years ago, Agnew further back.

Benghazi was going on 2 1/2 years ago, and no resolution, just stonewalling; the IRS targeting scandal was almost two years ago, and lies and stonewalling again, with no credible Justice department because of an emphasis on Race, and protecting Amateur Obama.

There exist a climate of corruption in The Amateur's administration that no no bounds.

If the entire world were composed of "CONTEMPORARY ANCESTORS" you "might" be correct. Since our world in Beaufort County is composed of working people carrying the tax burden the rich and corps don't shoulder under Reaganomics, we might just be damned tired of dismissive jerks taking jabs like a "nattering nabob of negativism" (Spiro Agnew who went to jail over his stuff with Nixon).

Bud, we both need a stiff drink and "maybe" I will save you from a chipping machine accident = know what I mean????
