    William Theodore Wooten, of Blounts Creek died January 18, 2015 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.

    A native of Greene County, Mr. Wooten was born on April 4, 1927 in Arba to John Henry and Sudie Cunningham Wooten who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Kay) Collins Wooten; seven brothers, Robert Thomas Wooten and Walter Wayne Wooten, formerly of Portland, OR, John Brantley Wooten, formerly of Tampa, FL, James Willis Wooten, formerly of Midland Park, NJ, Carl Edgar Wooten, formerly of Boston, MA, Norman Ray Wooten, formerly of Greenville and Clifton Earl Wooten, formerly of Ayden and three sisters, Effie Gertrude Wooten, of Arba, Katherine W. Bright, of Ayden and Selma W. Rogers, formerly of Greenville.

    He leaves to mourn his passing four daughters, Mary Magdalene Dobrinski of Melbourne, FL, Debra Gail Kraft and husband, Rick of Ocean Isle, Donna Jean Lane and Deanna Grace Bland of Greenville. He is also survived by one brother, Winston Delano Wooten and wife, Sandra of Ayden; three sisters, Ruth W. Grayiel of Greenville, Mamie Williams and husband Cassius, of Ayden and Margaret W. Oehrli of Winterville; four sisters-in-law, Kitty Wooten, of Jacksonville, FL, Lori Wooten, of Midland Park, NJ, Betty Lou Wooten, of Ayden and Ernestine Wooten, of Boston, MA; seven grandchildren, Amanda Reaves, of Stokes, Caleb Lane, Wesley McLawhorn and Jennifer Reaves, all of Greenville, Janis Britt and husband, John, of Winterville and Heather Harrington and husband, John, of Ayden; numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren and his loving companion and caregiver, Susan J. McDaniel, of Blounts Creek.

    Following high school he served in the Merchant Marine then the United States Army serving in France, Germany and Vietnam and retiring as Sgt. FC in 1970 after 20 years. Following this retirement, he worked with the North Carolina Park Service and Burroughs Wellcome retiring again in 1989.

    Mr. Wooten will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, his family and neighbors, his generosity and his volunteer work in his community of Crystal Beach Estates in Beaufort County.

    Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 2:00pm at Farmer Funeral Service-Chapel with Reverend John Brick officiating. Burial will follow in the Ayden Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
