    Mr. Henry Taylor Tolston, age 80, a resident of 3129 John Small Avenue, Washington, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at his home.

    Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 1, 2015 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, conducted by Pastor Thomas Lee. Burial will follow with military honors at Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Jerry Boyd, Casey Langley, Ricky McDaniel, Scottie Gendron, Oscar Woolard and James Rhodes.

    Mr. Tolston was born in Edgecombe County on April 7, 1934. He was the son of the late Henry Lawrence Tolston and Lillie Mae Drew Tolston. Mr. Tolston served in the U.S. Army. In 1999, he retired from Carolina Telephone/Sprint with 43 years of service. In his spare time, Mr. Tolston loved to hunt, fish and play golf. He attended Fifteenth Street Church of God.

    On April 26, 1958, Mr. Tolston married the former Janet Boyd, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are his son, Lawrence Tolston and wife, Lisa of Greenville; two granddaughters, Stacy Tolston and Emily Tolston both of Greenville; great grandson, Logan Taylor Wainwright; brother, Alan Tolston and wife, Katherine of Grifton; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolston was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Tolston, Fate Tolston, Earl Tolston and one sister, Ann Taylor.

    The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at his home.
