    Mrs. Susan Boyette Little, age 63, a resident of 109 King Arthur Trail, Washington, lost her hard-fought and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, July 14, 2011.

    A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011, at First Church of Christ in Washington officiated by Ray West and Steve Hill. Members of the Friendship Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the church and other times at the home.

    Susan was born Sept. 17, 1947, and was the adopted daughter of Charles and Juanita Boyette of St. Petersburg, Fla. She graduated from St. Petersburg High School and attended St. Petersburg College for one year. Susan worked for several years as a transcriptionist for the Miami Herald. She moved to Asheville, N.C., and later Parmele, N.C., where she taught adult Sunday School classes at the First Baptist Church. On May 23, 1991, she married Thomas Charles Little Jr. and they made their home in Washington, N.C.

    In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by a stepson: Thomas Charles Little III and wife, Tonya of Washington, N.C.; a stepdaughter: Selena Marie Rouse and husband Allen of Greenville; two grandsons: Alex Rouse of Greenville and Justin Thomas Little of Washington, sister-in-law: Rebecca Johnson and husband Neil of Burgess, Va.; several aunts, nieces and nephews of Shorterville, Ala., and close friends, Carole Frank of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Angela Roebuck of Parmele.

    Susan had a gentle, loving spirit, an irrepressible smile and was a light to all who knew her.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Church of Christ, 520 E. 10th St., Washington, NC 27889 or the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown St., Washington, NC 27889.
