It has been suggested that I provide answers to questions in a previous post | Eastern North Carolina Now

Here is a starting point for your consideration on my previous post of statements which provided no answers.

Suggested solutions to questions in Can we agree on a few basic statements? Suggestions are in red below.

Our government spending is out of control.     Balanced budget amendment!

Our Government's main job is to protect the security of the citizens.     Follow the constitution (FTC)!

Our political system is corrupted by career politicians.     2/3 majority for required for relection!

The two-party system has created a self-sustaining bureaucracy that serves only itself.     Campaign financing reform and run off elections until majority vote decides winner!

Our voting populace is too easily duped into believing in almost anything they hear.     Fair Voter qualification and literacy test!

Our election procedures seemed geared toward what it takes to win rather than what course we should take to solve our mutual problems.     Reform Campaign finance!

Our elementary and secondary education system is a failure in educating our children in the basics of earning a living in the current environment.     Charter Schools and vouchers!

Our colleges no longer have a goal of educating the students but have become a business unto themselves.     Eliminate tax free status for colleges and eliminate tenure. Require universities to pay corporate tax rate on all non academic income!

Our criminal justice system is fatally flawed by its reliance on minute legal points rather than overall justice.     Simplify laws and require automatic peer non lawyer jury review for conviction of serious crimes as well as acquittal based on legal technical reason!

Our welfare system does not actually help the people in need and may in fact actually harm them.     Work requirement or community service for welfare!

Our fundamental belief in the founding principles has been eroded.     Civics education in school!

Our economy has evolved into a non-manufacturing consumption economy and Our workforce is ill prepared for the jobs that are available today< which require more specialized knowledge.     Technical and craftsman training centers!

Our tax system is overly complicated and used to punish or reward selected groups.     The Fair Tax!

Our family unit has been under attack from many sides including the government.     Replace marriage with civil unions contracts or marriage contracts sanctioned by a church. !

The practice of religion is no longer a protected right in anything related to government property.     Follow the constitution (FTC)!

Our media outlets no longer provide an unbiased view of the facts or at the very best hide an agenda in their coverage of the news.     Require opinion reporting to display a disclaimer when non factual information is presented!

We have created a society more willing to blame others for their personal or financial problems.     Self-sufficiency and skill training for welfare recipients!

Less than 1/2% of our population is serving in the military with skin and ass at risk.     Mandatory community service for all 18-21 year old citizens and institute limited draft for non combatants! Increase benefits and lifetime medical and retirement coverage for combatants.( I realize this is draconian)

Find your own solutions and discuss them with your friends.
