JLF panel explores key trends, issues in 2016 elections

    RALEIGH     One day before New Hampshire voters cast their presidential primary ballots, the John Locke Foundation analyzed key trends and issues influencing the 2016 race for the White House and top N.C. elected offices.

    A panel featuring Newsmax chief political correspondent John Gizzi, Republican media strategist Marc Rotterman, and JLF Chairman John Hood offered predictions, handicapped pros and cons of the top candidates, and explained how national elections could affect North Carolina's most hotly contested race.

    In the video clip above, Gizzi explains what recent electoral successes for Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Bernie Sanders reveal about Americans' attitudes toward the major political parties.

    Hood offered his assessment of the GOP race and its potential impact on N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory's re-election bid. Rotterman analyzed the Democrats' presidential front-runner and offered his own thoughts about top GOP presidential candidates.
