Burr Continues Push To Provide Accessible, Quality Healthcare To Veterans | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

In the week ahead, the Burr campaign will continue to highlight the substantive work Senator Burr has engaged in to help increase access to quality healthcare for our veterans. Too often the needs of our nation's heroes go overlooked when they return home. As the former ranking member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Senator Burr has made improving the lives of veterans a top priority of his in the Senate. Below are just a few examples:

Making Healthcare More Accessible To Veterans: Senator Burr introduced the Veterans Choice Act which gave veterans the ability to seek care from a private doctor of their choice. In an effort to increase transparency, the bill required the VA to publish current wait times at all of their hospitals and clinics. Senator Burr has also worked to increase the amount of VA hospitals and clinics available to veterans throughout North Carolina.

Upholding The VA's Financial Responsibility: After hearing some veterans' medical bills were going unpaid, Senator Burr took the lead and introduced the Veterans Choice Improvement Act to ensure the VA payment process is streamlined so no veteran is left behind.

Separately, Senator Burr offered his condolences to the victims and families of the horrific terror attack that occurred in Orlando early Sunday morning.

Yesterday evening, Senator Burr, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, sat down with Wolf Blitzer on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" to provide insight on Sunday's terror attack in Orlando.
