Press Release:

RALEIGH, NC     The North Carolina Republican Party (NCGOP) today released the following statement on Donald Trump's selection of Governor Mike Pence as his Vice Presidential Nominee:

"I couldn't be more pleased with Donald J. Trump's selection of my friend, Governor Mike Pence. Over the many years we served together in Congress, I still remember his signature popcorn maker which sat in his office and our weekly Wednesday morning Bible studies together. I know him to be a principled leader who is devoted to his family, and always operates with integrity and through the lens of faith. Governor Pence's unquestionable conservatism and proven record of success makes him a strong addition to the ticket. Throughout his distinguished career as a public servant, he has worked tirelessly to make Indiana a national leader in job growth and education," said NCGOP Chairman Robin Hayes. "Together with Donald J. Trump, Governor Mike Pence will continue fighting to improve the lives of every American just as he has in Indiana. The NCGOP is already hard at work to ensure North Carolina elects Donald J. Trump and Governor Mike Pence, so we will once again have two strong conservatives in the White House. North Carolina cannot afford four more years of the same failed Obama policies, which is all Hillary Clinton has to offer."

The following is some key background information on Governor Mike Pence's record.

Unprecedented Job Creation:

  • Over 150,000 new private sector jobs have been created since January 2013.
  • Indiana ranks first in the Midwest and fifth in the nation for doing business.
  • Governor Pence's economic, tax cutting policies have lowered the unemployment rate from 8 percent to 5 percent.

Historic Investments to Education:

  • Governor Pence championed the largest K-12 education funding increase in state history.
  • Test scores and graduation rates have skyrocketed and Hoosier children are outpacing national averages at every level while rewarding and protecting teachers.
