Small Business Endorses Sen. Bill Cook in Senate 1 Race | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

The National Federation of Independent Business, North Carolina's leading small-business association, has endorsed Sen. Bill Cook in the 1st District Senate race.

The endorsement comes from the NFIB North Carolina SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, which is comprised exclusively of NFIB members.

"Sen. Cook is the clear choice for small-business owners, their employees, and their families," said Gregg Thompson, state director of NFIB.

"Sen. Cook understands the challenges facing small businesses," Thompson said. "Our members believe he will continue to take a fiscally responsible approach to managing state government and support legislation that helps all small businesses grow and create jobs."

The NFIB North Carolina SAFE Trust's endorsement is critical to the Cook campaign. Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB has pledged it will activate its grassroots network on behalf of the campaign. NFIB's political support is based on the candidate's positions and records on small business issues.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). I strongly support the free enterprise system and recognize the vital role of small business as the backbone of our state's economy - approximately half of our workforce in North Carolina are employed by small businesses," Cook said. "The tax reforms we passed are working - by broadening our base and lowering our rates, we're boosting the state's climate for job creation, driving down unemployment and returning more money to the North Carolina families and small businesses that earned it."
