Sen. Cook Appointed Chairman of Senate Agriculture, Natural and Economic Resources Budget and Policy Committees | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Raleigh, N.C.     The office of Sen. Bill Cook (R-District 1) announced Thursday, January 19, 2017 that he has been appointed by Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) to chair the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Natural and Economic Resources as well as the Senate Agriculture, Natural and Economic Resources Committee.

    "I'm thankful for the opportunity to chair and serve as a member of the various committees that will continue to keep state government accountable to its citizens," Sen. Cook said. "I look forward to working with my Senate and House colleagues in a bipartisan way to continue to make positive changes."

    Additionally, Sen. Cook was appointed to serve as a member of the following committees: State and Local Government; Commerce and Insurance; and Education/Higher Education.

    "These committees will play a critical role in our efforts to grow North Carolina's economy, cut taxes, strengthen public education and find solutions to the challenges facing our constituents," Sen. Berger said. "I thank Sen. Cook for his leadership and commitment to shaping policy and serving our state."

    Sen. Cook is entering his third term in the N.C. Senate and fourth term in the N.C. General Assembly. Previously, he served one term in the N.C. House of Representatives. North Carolina Senate District 1 is comprised of Beaufort, Camden, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hyde, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties.
