    The Dare County Republican Party proudly announces our annual County Convention is scheduled for March 11th, 2017, at the Dare Center in Manteo starting at 8:30 AM. The Dare Center is located at 950 Marshall C. Collins Drive, Manteo, NC 27954. All are welcome to attend but only credentialed Delegates may vote in the election. Only registered Republicans may address Convention attendees. There is no charge to attend the Convention.

    The primary business of the Convention is for the Delegates elected by their Precinct Committees to vote for their 2017 Dare County Republican Party Executive Committee Members: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and seven At-Large members. The term of service is 2 years. For a listing of the Dare County Republican Party Executive leaders please open the "Leadership" tab on our website www.daregop.com. We are also available via social media at "Dare County Republican Party" on Facebook.

    Immediately preceding the Convention Precinct representatives for East Lake, Frisco, Stumpy Point and Wanchese will conduct their annual precinct meetings to elect their precinct officers and their Delegates to the County Convention.

    Our Convention activities will include an insightful and timely first-hand account of a conservative succeeding in the realm of mass media while being increasingly outnumbered by liberals bent on accomplishing their personal agendas, journalist Mr. Ed Danko. You won't want to miss this message.

    Ed recently retired after working in television news media for over 40 years. He has worked for three major national networks - NBC, CBS and CNN. In Washington, DC in 1980 he worked as a freelance producer for Entertainment Tonight. He joined the NBC News Washington Bureau before moving on to the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather (and later Katie Couric.) He covered The White House, Capitol Hill and The Pentagon. He was assigned to the CBS News Moscow Bureau during the fall of Communism. He has spent the last 8 years of his career working as a News Producer for CNN at CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta, producing news stories and traveling covering breaking news before retiring in 2016 to Avon, NC, where he lives with his delightful wife Beverly and their four dogs. Ed is a member of the Avon Fire Department, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Board of Directors of the Kinnakeet Shores Property Owners Association, and the Avon Homeowner's Association. He is also the Precinct Chairman in Avon for the Dare County Republican Party.

School announced yesterday that the so called forums at Chocowinity Middle School tonight (April 29,2025) and S.W. Snowden (Thursday May 1, 2025) have been cancelled pending the managers proposed budget.

The political schedule has suddenly become complicated. This is because the Republican party is deliberately scheduling events to conflict with our schedule.
The Conservative Club meets Wednesday February 26 at 6:00 pm at King Chicken Restaurant.
Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the NC State Board of Elections, recently was elected incoming president of the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), putting her in line to serve as association president in 2026.
