PirateFest to Feature a FREE Concert by Rusted Root at the Town Common! | Eastern North Carolina Now

    GREENVILLE, N.C.     Saturday night at PirateFest Rusted Root will take the stage free community concert sponsored by Minges Bottling Company for the 11th annual PirateFest finale concert.

    At 5p.m. Rusted Root will rock the PirateFest main stage at the Greenville Town Common. Bring a blanket and lawn chairs because this is a show you don't want to miss. In finale of PirateFest, Rusted Root is headlining this main stage concert that will transform the best of our pirate pride into the southern rock and acoustic fusion sound of Rusted Root.

    With eight albums under their belt, over three million records sold worldwide and countless nights on the road, Rusted Root, transcends age, generations, cultures and musical styles. Their music has been featured in films like Ice Age, Twister and Matilda, TV shows like New Girl, Ally McBeal, Charmed and Chuck as well as recent TV commercials. Their song "Send Me on My Way" has attracted a large cult following.

    The powerhouse ensemble has toured alongside everyone from Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page and countless others. Rusted Root's Shanachie debut in 2012, The Movement, is an energized and poetic collection of originals that capture the Pittsburgh-based unit at their best.

    Opening for Rusted Root is Rebecca Todd and the Odyssey. From Benson, North Carolina, Rebekah Todd received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from East Carolina University in 2012 and been devoting her life to writing and touring. Rebekah is a gifted performer with a natural, soulful and effortless voice with two releases under her belt. Forget Me Not in 2011 and her first LP, Roots Bury Deep, in 2014. Her band, Rebekah Todd & The Odyssey, won the On The Rise series for FloydFest 2016 and are set to play the mainstage at PirateFest 2017.

    Taking the stage at 3:00 p.m., Rebekah Todd and the Odyssey bring an edgy, alternative sound with a small-town twist. She livens the stage with her powerful voice and big band sound. The band has performed all over the east coast and beyond.
