Born: March 26, 1930, Died: September 2, 2017

    Mrs. Marie Ambrose Boyd, age 87, a resident of 13367 U.S. Highway 264 East, Pinetown, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her home.

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Dennis Davis. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Bryan Modlin, Rodney Alligood, Shane Boyd, Billy Boyd, Craig Boyd and Ronnie Woolard.

    Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on March 26, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Fenner I. Ambrose and Lola Bowen Ambrose. Mrs. Boyd worked for 33 years as a seamstress at Samson Shirt Factory. After her retirement, she worked as a caregiver. Mrs. Boyd was a member of Everett's Church of Christ. In her spare time, she loved the outdoors and found therapy in maintaining a neat yard.

    Mrs. Boyd was married to William Gerald Boyd, Sr., who preceded her in death.

    She is survived by her daughter, Myra Marie Boyd Alligood and her husband, Kenneth of Washington; son William Gerald Boyd Jr. and his wife, Shelia Bailey of Bath; three grandchildren, Rodney Ray Alligood, William Shane Boyd, Sandy Boyd Modlin; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four brothers, Denby Ambrose, Sherrell Royce Ambrose, Earl Ambrose, Linwood Ambrose; and three sisters, Geraldine Alligood, Isabelle Cantrell and Linda Lou Johnson.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Joyce Ambrose who was born on December 1, 1937 and died on January 10, 1939.

    The family received friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, September 4, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at her home.
