    NEW BERN, N.C.     Bryson K. Jones, New Bern resident and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, announced his candidacy for North Carolina House of Representatives, District 79 today.

    Jones is a Democrat and a patriot. His priorities include education, healthcare, the environment, equality and fair wages. He is the current chairman of Craven Fairfield Precinct Democrat 20 and volunteers on the communications team for the Craven County Democratic Party.

    "I'm thrilled to announce my candidacy for the N.C. House. I feel a duty and commitment to the people of Eastern North Carolina. This is my home, and these are my neighbors."

    Jones said. "My greatest pride in life is serving others for the greater good of our community."

    Originally from Billings, Montana, Jones settled in Eastern North Carolina after medically separating as a Gunnery Sgt. He served honorably for 14 years as a combat cameraman.

    Jones deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa, and dozens of other countries overseas during his time as a Marine.

    Jones is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on management at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. He married his wife, Brittany, in 2010. He is the father of three children, Gracy, Maverick and Lilly. He and Brittany are expecting their fourth child in April 2018.

School announced yesterday that the so called forums at Chocowinity Middle School tonight (April 29,2025) and S.W. Snowden (Thursday May 1, 2025) have been cancelled pending the managers proposed budget.
