The Unconscionable Conduct of Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Members of the military and military families - take notice!! Not only have Democratic leaders, led by Senator Chuck Schumer, shut down government by voting against the government spending bill - suspending payment to those in uniform and in service to our country and cutting off healthcare benefits to children - but House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi has invited all 192 House Democrats to an extravagant, and very expensive, Italian restaurant in Washington, D.C. to mark the occasion of the shutdown. (Drinks alone there - at Acqua al 2 - start at $14 each)

    The government budget bill required at least 60 votes in the Senate. Republicans contributed virtually all of theirs, but thanks to Schumer, Senate Democrats refused to even cough up ten of their own, therefore making the shutdown of their own making. And they did it in the name of illegals. Sadly, the budget bill had nothing whatsoever to do with the so-called "DREAMer's" that Democrats are so strongly trying to protect. They call illegals 'DREAMers' while calling ordinary Americans 'deplorables.' Deplorable Americans are tired of losing jobs and supporting illegals (and their families and chain migration family members), let alone being victims of the crime they bring to our country. While Americans want a return to the rule of law and want a common-sense immigration policy that rewards merit and respects our concern for safety and stability and doesn't burden our resources (including government funds), Democrats want to flaunt and reward illegality. Their motives, of course, are not honorable.

    Jeff Works, a military father tweeted: "My son (deployed in Middle East) and daughter are both serving our Country, with honor, without pay... and they are celebrating?"

    White Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also lashed out at Pelosi, tweeting: "Nancy Pelosi is VERY PROUD that Democrats shut the government down over illegal immigration and is taking Democrats out tonight to celebrate. Nice message to send to the brave men & women of our military and border patrol forced to work without pay during the #DemocraticShutdown" (tweet)

    "Surely this isn't true. Surely Leader Pelosi isn't taking her grandstanding caucus to an extremely nice dinner while the government is shut down and most of its employees are furloughed. Right?" tweeted House Speaker Paul Ryan's Deputy Press Secretary, Molly Edwards.

    J.D. Heyes, editor-in-chief of The National Sentinel, wrote: "The lower enlisted and officer ranks are not making king's ransoms, and many live paycheck to paycheck, even on base," he continued. "That this woman and her party would dismiss their service and sacrifice so casually, then go out and celebrate their 'victory' for illegal aliens over troops in the field, is beyond the pale. I predict Democrats will suffer mightily for this at the polls later this year."

   The kicker, as I found out, is that Pelosi treated House Democrats, when in fact, they failed in their jobs, ON THE FEDERAL DOLE. Yep, we the taxpayers funded their indulgence. Our men and women in the service, and the men and women protecting our dangerous southern border, are not getting what THEY DESERVE from the federal dole, but Democrats are celebrating with it. While those stand in harm’s way, and now have the stress of figuring out how their families will get by without their pay, Democrats order expensive drinks and enjoy being waited on – without worrying about the cost!

    I think Democrats need to stop questioning the competency of President Trump to hold office and start questioning their own.
