Brian Wade Douglas, age 46, a resident of Singleton Road, Washington, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Brian was born in Washington, NC on January 24, 1972. He was the son of Aaron Wade Douglas and Nancy Singleton Douglas. He graduated from Pungo Christian Academy in 1990. Brian was an owner of Quality Tires & Service, where he was blessed to work every day with his father and brother-in-law. Brian loved life and lived his life to the fullest. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his friends and family.

Brian was a hard worker and a problem solver with a big personality. He was always willing to help others and give his opinion. He was a wonderful father and a great teacher of "life lessons" to his son Crawford, of whom he was very proud. He felt at home on just about any piece of equipment and on any piece of land in Beaufort County, but his farm on Singleton Road held a special place in his heart.

Brian loved books, guns, and pocket knives. He was always willing to guide others in their purchases and to "trade" any of them. He also loved to ride the roads of Beaufort County and could tell you about many famous and infamous parts and was willing to give anyone a tour. He had many anecdotal sayings and quotes, but a favorite was "At the end of the game, the king and the pawn go in the same box."

Brian was a former Boy Scout, a member of First Church of Christ in Washington, and a member of the local philanthropic group known as Friends and Neighbors. Brian was an active member of Orr Lodge #104 in Washington, NC, where he was Initiated as Entered Apprentice on April 2, 2013, Passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on July 2, 2013, and Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on September 17, 2013. Brian was an active and supportive member of the Charity Fundraisers for the Lodge. Brian exemplified the true virtues of Masonry: Faith, Hope, and Charity.

Surviving are his son: Crawford Douglas, his parents: Aaron and Nancy Douglas, his sister and brother-in-law: Amy and Kevin Alligood and their daughter Emily, and his fiancée: Brooke Baynor and her children, Meredith and Tate.

The family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and at other times at his home, 245 Singleton Road, and his parents' home, 1253 Slatestone Road.

A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. The service will be conducted by Steve Hill. A private burial will take place at a later time.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Britt Alligood, Preston Alligood, Jamie Boyd, Justin Mixon, Stephen Whitley, and Stephen Woolard. Honorary pallbearers include the members of Friends and Neighbors and his Masonic brothers.

While flowers are always welcome, memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or to the charity of your choice.

Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.paulfuneralhome.com.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve the Douglas family.
