New York Residents Busted in Beaufort County for Selling Narcotics on a Grand Scale | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release:

    On 02-12-2019, Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested James Earl Moore, 51 years of age, of 273 Franklin Avenue in Mount Vernon New York and Kenyaan Marks, 39 years of age, of 501 Old Country Road in Elmsford New York.

    Moore was charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Storing and Selling a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Marks was charged with Trafficking in Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    These arrest stemmed from the Drug Unit receiving information about Moore transporting and smuggling drugs from New York to Beaufort County. Investigators from the Drug Unit worked with and shared information with Law Enforcement Officials in New York then tracked these suspects from New York into Beaufort County. When the suspects entered Beaufort County the Drug Unit conducted a traffic stop on US 17 North of Washington. The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 10 pounds of marijuana, 5 grams of cocaine, a digital scale and $2000.00 in cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $40,000.00.

    Sheriff Ernie Coleman stated "that these arrest are a direct result of my Drug Unit being equipped with up to date technology and working with other Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the United States to stop illegal drugs from entering Beaufort County poisoning our citizens and destroying families."

    Moore and Marks were both confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $250,000.00 secured bond.

On March 01, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Terrence Lamont Moore on several drug charges.

On February 20, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Earl Rodgers, Jessica Virgina Coffman, and Caitlyn Marie Wyatt on multiple drug charges.
On February18, 2024, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible human skeletal remains found in a wooded area near River Rd. in Washington.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has received nineteen reports of Breaking and Entering of Motor Vehicles in the Washington area along the River Road corridor and US 264 West corridor since December 1, 2023.
On Tuesday, February 6, 2024 Mykal Coleman was arrested and confined to the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $75,000.00 secure bond.
On October 9, 2023, Ashun Anthony, age 24 of Washington, NC was indicted by a Beaufort County Grand Jury for the crime of Death by Distribution in connection with the April 29, 2022 death of 31 year old Quintin Freeman
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a fugitive from justice.
