    Mrs. Joyce Faye Cutler Congleton, age 85, a resident of 210 Whispering Pines Road, Washington, died Monday May 20, 2019 at her home.

    Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, conducted by Pastor David Thompson. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery.

    The following will serve as pallbearers: Adam Congleton, Joe Paul Congleton, Kelvin Nobles, Josh Woolard, Kaleb Congleton, and Colby Woolard.

    Mrs. Congleton was born in Beaufort County on September 23, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd Edward Cutler and Clara Mitchell Cutler. Mrs. Congleton graduated from Bath High School. She worked for many years at Carver's Drive In. Later, Mrs. Congleton owned and operated the restaurant Korner Kupboard. She had a love for cooking and spending time with friends and family. She got joy from babysitting and being actively involved in her church. Joyce Congleton loved the Lord. Mrs. Congleton was married to Paul Edward Congleton, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1987.

    She is survived by her daughter Deborah C. "Debbie" Deal of Washington; two sons, Paul Edward "Eddie" Congleton, Jr. and wife, Jackie of Washington, Ricky Lane Congleton and wife Kam of Clayton; five grandchildren, Paula Nobles (Kelvin) of Vanceboro, Adam Congleton (Karen) of Greenville, Jessica Woolard (Josh) of Washington, Jacy Pate (Chris) of Smyrna, TN, Joe Paul Congleton of Clayton; eight great grandchildren, Kelsey and Katie Nobles both of Vanceboro, Colby and Felicity Woolard both of Washington, Kaleb, Isaac, Luke and Gracyn Congleton all of Greenville; and three sisters, Louise Cutler and Lois Perry both of Washington, Evelyn Nelson of Kinston.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Congleton was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman P. Cutler, Earl Cutler and Allen Franklin Cutler; great grandchild, Andy Pate and son in law, Terry Deal.

    The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her son, Eddie and Jackie Congleton, 613 Barwick Drive, Washington.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to W.A.C. (Women Act for Christ), 2480 West Fifth Street, Washington, N.C. 27889.
