    Mrs. Peggy Ryan Hodges, age 90, a former resident of Washington, died Wednesday morning, June 5, 2019 in Fayetteville.

    A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday June 7, 2019 at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Dr. Robert Cayton. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Jonas Kessing, Hunter Chambers, Ned Kessing, Don Waitley, Jane Cherry and Karen Ball will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 1:00 - 1:45 PM prior to the service at Paul Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Hodges was born in Columbus, GA on March 24, 1929, daughter of the late George Wise Ryan and Vivian Katherine Hendricks Ryan. On September 4, 1954, she married Harry Skinner "H.S" Hodges, Jr. who survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Washington.

    In addition to her husband, Harry of Fayetteville, she is survived by her children: Debbie Waitley and husband Don of Fayetteville, Mike Hodges and wife Julie Stone of Apex and Kathy Kessing and husband Ned of Apex; her grandchildren: Hunter Chambers and wife Brittany of Holly Springs, Jennifer Kessing of Chapel Hill and Jonas Kessing and wife Julia Abraham of Asheville; and her great grandson: Aiden Chambers of Holly Springs. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hart.
