Vidant Health Announces Board Quality Leadership Award Winners

    Greenville, N.C.     The Vidant Health Board of Directors recently announced the recipients of the 2019 Board Quality Leadership Award.

    The winning teams represent excellence across the system and serve as models for exceptional care and experiences for every patient served. The board selected one winner from each of the following groups: Vidant Medical Center, Vidant Community Hospitals and the ambulatory setting.

    "We are proud to honor the outstanding teams that personify our focus of improving the care our patients receive," said Bryant Kittrell, chairman, Vidant Health Board of Directors. "Our communities deserve high-quality care close to home and these teams help make that possible."

    The winning teams include:

Vidant Medical Center - Children's Services. The "Sea of Safety" team was recognized for its work to decrease preventable hospital-acquired conditions. Team: Dr. John Kohler, pediatric physician; Elaine Henry, quality nurse specialist - Women's and Children's; Dr. Kim Crickmore-Osborne, vice president - Women's and Children's; Brian Floyd, president

Vidant Community Hospitals - Vidant Chowan Hospital. The "Striking Out and Surviving Sepsis" team worked diligently to improve the overall sepsis care of patients. Ambulatory Services - Vidant Family Medicine - Greenville. The "Blood Pressure in Control" team made great strides in recognizing and managing patients who suffer from hypertension. Winners were honored at the May Vidant Health Board meeting with a plaque, board resolution and a scholarship to attend a national educational conference.
