Beaufort Observer: Reasons to Re-Open North Carolina | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

    WE have all been living in a "twilight zone" where we were forced to remain at home and await a pandemic that was predicted to take 2 million US Lives. After about a month of this quarantine we are told we will extend this lockdown until at least May 8th and if all goes well begin a gradual reopening over a period of months. This is much too long especially when you look at the facts.

    The 2 million dead predictions for the US started the United States and others on this "World lock down", was made by a British expert who also predicted 500,000 dead in the United Kingdom. These numbers were based on the fact no one took any actions to combat the virus. I bet you were never told when he factored in just "Social Distancing" his predictions for the UK dropped from 500,000 dead to approximately 20,000. In fact as of Saturday the UK had only 20,381 dead from the virus. If you are surprised by these facts do not be. It does not fit the Media's narrative to spread fear, increase their influence, and sabotage President Trump.

    Let us look at the facts surrounding the deaths from the virus. As of late Friday April 24th in North Carolina, we had 290 confirmed deaths with a total of 8,202 confirmed sick from the virus in a total population of approximately 10.5 million people. That averages to a death rate of about 3.5%. Please understand I am not minimizing any deaths and the effect it has on families. The US rate is slightly higher at 5.7%. World- wide the percentage of deaths is 7.0%. That means worldwide about 93% of those contracting the disease recover. In the US the recovery rate is just over 94%. In North Carolina our recovery rate is over 96%.

    When you dig deeper into the available data, a different picture is painted than that of the Media. On April 24th, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) reported total deaths as well as deaths from COVID 19, Pneumonia, Mixed causes and Influenza. The facts speak for themselves;

    Total deaths reflect car accidents, heart attacks, cancer deaths etc. It some cases it was reported the patient had both pneumonia and the virus was present. Based on these numbers just over 5% of deaths during that period was directly linked to COVID 19. Not exactly what the Media wants you to believe is happening. We know that CV-19 has the greatest effect on the elderly with respiratory issues. The possibility is there that not all pneumonia deaths were tested for CV-19. The death rate jumps to about 9.5 % nationally if we count half of all pneumonia deaths as CV 19 related. The American Thoracic Society reports they expect approximately 50,000 pneumonia deaths annually. If we subtract the expected 50,000 pneumonia deaths annually and add those additional deaths to the CV 19 virus our death rate increases from just over 5% to just over 6%.

    Let's dig deeper. Looking at the ages where the virus has major effects we find the following:

    Realizing that this disease has the greater effect on those with Breathing issues or older people with decreased immune systems due to age or disease, I question why we closed schools, and shutdown the nation. It is obvious by the stats the disease is hitting older Americans. Granted they did not know this in the beginning. However it has been more than apparent for the past month. Also remember they consistently stated things would get back to normal after they flattened the curve. Even New York is seeing the curve flattening. Do we see things opening?

    In North Carolina without good reason we have extended the stay at home order until May 8th. We cannot even start the three phase recovery until after May 8th, maybe. Overkill. People cannot even get haircuts until sometime in June if the plan starts and continues based on the time line. Stores can begin to reopen if they are still in business after the lockdown. Schools are now closed and education is on line for those that can afford the internet and a good computer.

    Think of this, Trump was considered a shoe in in November. They have tried everything to beat him including impeachment. They had to go after the economy because statistically a president is reelected with a strong economy. Suddenly this virus hits the world and especially the US. Governors shut down businesses and unemployment goes from record lows to depression like numbers. The Left succeeds in passing extra unemployment benefits on top of the ones authorized by the states. This is already having employees already being called back to work to balk as the benefits exceed their paychecks. Another shot at the economy. Republican Governors are starting to reopen their states. Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Oklahoma are reopening. Yet there is not one democratic Governor close to reopening. Can anyone say Political?

    The bottom line is we need to reopen and get the country back to work. Schools should have been reopened. Because of this the possibility of a second round of the virus in the fall is likely. Can anyone say another possible shut down or mail in voting? Political- get Trump at any cost.

    The shame is when 9-11 happened, all sides pulled together and a united America moved forward. Politics were put aside for an extended period. In this crisis that did not happen. Maybe because the Left has decided to implement the quote from Rahm Emanuel, an advisor to President Obama, who during the 2008 financial crisis stated "never let a good crisis go to waste". Translation: use the crisis for the good of the party to implement their programs in spite of the people.
