Fox News host Tucker Carlson warned last week that President Donald Trump is at risk of losing re-election if he doesn't start fighting back. Just days after Carlson issued the warning on his show, the president began throwing some punches.

The first punch came Friday, when the president posted an FBI poster on Twitter that shows the photos of fifteen individuals who are wanted for vandalizing the statue of former President Andrew Jackson in D.C.'s Lafayette Park. The president captioned the tweet with, "MANY people in custody, with many others being sought for Vandalization of Federal Property in Lafayette Park. 10 year prison sentences!"

That was just a warm-up. Later that evening, President Trump announced that he'd just signed "a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues" that'll ensure "Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!"

The official order reads, "It is the policy of the United States to prosecute to the fullest extent permitted under Federal law, and as appropriate, any person or any entity that destroys, damages, vandalizes, or desecrates a monument, memorial, or statue within the United States or otherwise vandalizes government property."

"The desire of the Congress to protect Federal property is clearly reflected in section 1361 of title 18, United States Code, which authorizes a penalty of up to 10 years' imprisonment for the willful injury of Federal property," the order states.

The executive order also contains a scathing indictment of the mostly Democrat "State and local governments" that have willingly allowed left-wing extremists to wreak havoc through their cities and damage America's historical monuments. The order reads, "In the midst of these attacks, many State and local governments appear to have lost the ability to distinguish between the lawful exercise of rights to free speech and assembly and unvarnished vandalism. They have surrendered to mob rule, imperiling community safety, allowing for the wholesale violation of our laws, and privileging the violent impulses of the mob over the rights of law-abiding citizens."

Left-wing extremists had congregated in D.C.'s Lincoln Park Friday evening with the intention of going after the Emancipation Memorial, according to reports.

Yet nothing ended up happening to the Emancipation Memorial. Note the timing of the Hagstrom tweet: 5:17 p.m. President Trump announced his signing of the executive order about half an hour later. Is it possible the announcement of the order dissuaded the hooligans from carrying out their plans? The president seems to think so.

Whatever ended up changing the plans of the left-wing zealots intent on destroying more public statues and memorials, the end result was the Emancipation Memorial remains upright and undisturbed today. It's well past time for our laws to be enforced and order to be restored across the nation. Just imagine how much destruction could've been avoided in recent weeks had state and local Democratic officials acted as swiftly and authoritatively as the president did this weekend.
