Vandal in Montana Desecrates Ten Commandments Monument | Eastern North Carolina Now

Across the country monuments are being vandalized and destroyed. The campaign to replace American history with a socialist and anti-God narrative took another turn over the weekend as a biblical monument was damaged Saturday in Montana.

Kalispell, Montana police arrested a man who pulled down a courthouse Ten Commandments monument with a chain and a pickup truck. Montana previously had few, if any, incidents of this kind. City and state officials did not comment, but privately expressed concern to media that this could ignite other incidents of vandalism.

The vandal, Anthony Weimer, was booked into jail on a charge of felony criminal mischief following the incident in Kalispell, KHQ television reported.

The history of the monument also tells a tale of changing American social attitudes toward traditional values and the public display of faith.

The Associated Press reported in 2011 that the Kalispell City Council was asked to take possession of the statue and six other monuments. These statues included historical texts from the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. Together, the monuments formed a "cornerstone of law" display. The council declined, fearing a lawsuit on the grounds of First Amendment separation of church and state.

The Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence are not religious documents. But they are, with many supporting documents like Magna Carta and the Declaration of Arbroath, the cornerstones not only of American democracy but of freedom around the world.

The fact that a city council in a deeply conservative state like Montana refused to publicly honor American heritage by the display of American ideals, because they fear litigation, shows the power the Left has in intimidating and silencing those it disagrees with.

The Associated Press reported that the Fraternal Order of the Eagles had given the Ten Commandments statue to Flathead County in 1950. At that time, it was placed in front of the courthouse for full public display. But since 1950, the Left has successfully embarked upon their "long march through the institutions" and gained the upper hand in academic, cultural, intellectual, and media influence in this nation.

Ideas like the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence that were considered sacrosanct are not deemed fit for public consideration. Concepts like the Ten Commandments, written approximately 3600 years ago, that have been heretofore seen as sacred and vital to Western society and faith, are not now worthy of the attention of a city council in Montana and are an easy target for a common vandal.

As the campaign to destroy and replace American and Western civilization continues, there will be much more desecration and vandalism. Granted, American society has been through periods of upheaval before; the late 1960s is a case in point. But many factors, especially demographic and ideological, are far different now than then. This time America may not recover as quickly and as decisively.
