Commissioner Deatherage Begs the Beaufort County Commissioners to Support and Defend the First Amendment. | Eastern North Carolina Now

January 12, 2022 - Publisher's note: Due to a publishing SNAFU, I have been remiss in my duties, here at BCN, regarding the proper categorization of county government publications; in particular, the Enhanced County Government Videos, begun August 1, 2019.

Therefore, to thoroughly correct this miscue, I will make the proper categorical correction, and bring these archives forward beginning on January 12, 2022; mixing these historical patterns of fact in with the current news of our day. Some posts brought forward will not be video broadcasts, but most informative posts as to who and what you Beaufort County Commissioners are, and how they govern.

At the November, 2020 General Meeting, The Beaufort County Commissioners will be asked to endorse by ratification a well defined resolution, written by Commissioner Stan Deatherage, to support and defend the First Amendment, in particular the segment that guarantees "Freedom of Speech", "or of the Press" This resolution is very necessary, considering the strategic affront to our Freedom of Speech and the lack of for a fair, knowledgeable and honest Press, which is estimated at nearly 80 percent in the deficit toward knowing the Real Truth, and therefore prolonging our Republic's liberty.

Why is a local, long time county commissioner, such as Stan Deatherage, concerned with this steady erosion of our First Amendment guaranteed rights at the hands of whacked out Democratic Socialists desperately bent on power rather than love of country and our continued Freedoms? The answer is simple: Commissioner Stan Deatherage is a modern day, unrepentant patriot; raised by an American patriot, a father who, as a grown boy, joined the fight at eighteen years to serve his nation in the Pacific Theater, and was always a stand-up man for our Constitutional Republic, irrespective of the cost. Existing as a patriot first is the least I can do for my community, my state, my Republic and the memory of my father, a good man and a great patriot to emulate all my remaining days.

Resolution to Support and Defend the First Amendment; in Particular: "Freedom of Speech", "or of the Press"

Whereas, the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States is not only the First Amendment of our Bill of Rights, but is chief among all amendments of our Constitution, and,

Whereas, the First Amendment provides for the guaranteed unfettered exchange of information in nearly every space and on every platform, where American citizens can extrude the Rightful Truth from the torrent spoken words thereof, and,

Whereas, the First Amendment also guarantees that the Rightful Truth "of, by, and for" a free People, expressing their desire to remain Free, will always overrule an elitist predilection to control the many by the few, and by whatever means necessary - unconstitutional and, or otherwise - and,

Whereas, the first hurdle for any prospective Socialist /Communist society is to limit all freedoms, by controlling the thoughts of that subjected society by any means necessary; primarily by replacing Free Speech with only the approved speech by the ruling class, aided by speech control and the constancy of propaganda as truth, and,

Whereas, the American Media is currently an abysmal mess of predominant propaganda, where far more fakery and lies, knowingly told, are in abundance to the truth; where even the Rightful Truth is assailed by propagandist media critics, celebrated by the Left, but otherwise held in infamous repute, and,

Whereas, in this 2020 election cycle, the Democratic Socialist media has thrown a continual dark cloak over any news detrimental to their candidates for president and vice president, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris respectively, even the bombshell story by the New York Post, which is supported by some corroborated evidence, of Joe Biden allegedly attempting to sell, through his son Hunter Biden, USA Government Access to Foreign Powers, even foreign powers who steal trade secrets, export Covid, and are considered the United State's chief foreign rival - China, and,

Whereas, also, in this 2020 election cycle, the Democratic Socialist primarily owned /operated Social Media outlets: Twitter and Facebook has often banned Speech that they do not approve of, including putting up a dark curtain hiding certain users, such as the White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, and even the New York Post article itself regarding certain news detrimental to their unconditional advocacy for Biden /Harris Campaign, alleging the Selling of USA Government Access to Foreign Powers, and,

Whereas, also, in this 2020 election cycle, the Democratic Socialist primarily owned /operated Social Media outlets: Twitter and Facebook has often banned Speech that they do not approve of, including putting up a dark curtain hiding the Speech of users, who express ideas and ideals alien to their orthodoxy, and currently regarding certain news detrimental to their unconditional advocacy for the Biden /Harris Campaign, alleging the Selling of USA Government Access to Foreign Powers, and,

Whereas, since the results of the 2016 General Election, when Donald John Trump defeated Hillary Clinton for the presidency, the search engine Google, which controls nearly 90% of our nation's Search on the internet, has methodically used their technology to favor more Leftist sites, which they favor, over internet online publications that support and defend our collective guaranteed right to "Freedom of Speech", "or of the Press" therefore,

Let it be Resolved, that the Beaufort County Commissioners support and defend all Speech, even Speech that does not comport with our ideals or our ideology, thereby expecting the American Media, if it is to be taken seriously as the constitutionally guarded "Press", to refrain from all manner of propaganda and also support and defend the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, and therefore,

Let it be further Resolved, that the Beaufort County Commissioners applaud and support the Department of Justice's recent lawsuit, United State v. Google, alleging anticompetitive behavior under Section 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act., and any other case that is instructive in Google complying in a manner where all Speech is treated accordingly in a fair manner, furthermore and therefore,

Let it be additionally Resolved, that the Beaufort County Commissioners demand that online platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, who need online users to continually build out their websites in order to exact revenue, must adhere to 47 U.S.C. § 230, a Provision of the Communication Decency Act, which stipulates, "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider", or forever lose that 47 U.S.C. § 230 exemption, and therefore be treated like all other online publications, which are not immune (contrasted against interactive platforms Twitter and Facebook that currently are immune) to Defamation lawsuits, Copyright infringements, etc.

Written by Beaufort County Commissioner Stan Deatherage for passage on November 2, 2020.

Commissioner Stan Deatherage writes a bunch of resolutions, with many never passing - thus dying a politcal death - due to the political make-up of his fellow county commissioners; however, he writes them nonetheless because he deems these issues important, and knows that should they pass, they could, probably would make that small difference for Beaufort County citizens, and, hopefully, for our fellow citizens far beyond. This is Stan's contribution to the optimism of the "Butterfly Effect".
