Hunter Biden Appears To Have Known About Investigation Into Business Dealings Long Before He Claimed | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Last week, Joe Biden's son Hunter gave media outlets the green light to cover his scandals by releasing a statement saying he learned on December 8 "for the first time" that his financial dealings were under investigation.

    But as Mark Hemingway noted at Real Clear Politics, earlier reporting — that was ignored by mainstream media outlets — show it is likely Hunter knew about the investigations much earlier than he now claims.

    "One of the FBI documents from the laptop published by the Post 'included a case number that had the code associated with an ongoing federal money laundering investigation in Delaware, according to several law enforcement officials who reviewed the document. Another document — one with a grand jury subpoena number — appeared to show the initials of two assistant U.S. attorneys linked to the Wilmington, Delaware, office.' Hunter Biden claims he only learned of the investigation this past week, but these documents suggest otherwise," Hemingway wrote.

    As The Daily Beast reported late last week, much of what is now being reported about Hunter's scandals began with the New York Post's report that was suppressed by social media companies ahead of the 2020 election.

    As Hemingway noted, had mainstream media outlets conducted even a cursory inquiry into what the Post reported regarding a laptop left at a Delaware electronics repair shop containing damaging information on Hunter's business dealings, they could have confirmed he was under investigation. The investigation was started in 2018, we recently learned, but Sinclair Broadcast Group correspondent James Rosen reported in late October that a Justice Department official confirmed to him that hunter was under investigation.

    "EXCLUSIVE: A @TheJusticeDept official confirms that in 2019, the @FBI opened up a criminal investigation into 'Hunter Biden and his associates,' focused on allegations of money-laundering, and that it remains open and active today," Rosen tweeted at the time. Whether that was the same investigation we recently learned about or a different one, or if the date given to Rosen was incorrect.

    Hemingway wrote: "Almost without exception, America's press corps refused to follow up on Rosen's revelation — or even report it."

    Among the most blatant media refusals to cover anything relating to Hunter, NPR released a statement saying it wouldn't cover the scandals because "we don't want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don't want to waste the listeners' and readers' time on stories that are just pure distractions."

    The outlet did not take such a stance on anything relating to the hoax allegations that President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign colluded with Russia to steal the election. Those allegations turned out to be false even after tens of millions of dollars were spent investigating them through Special Counsel Robert Mueller. There is now an active investigation into why the FBI continued to investigate Trump associates even when they had evidence there was no wrongdoing.
