Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Press Release:

WASHINGTON, D.C.     Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) released the following statement after voting against President Biden's social spending agenda, H.R. 5376, the Build Back Better Act.

"The so-called Build Back Better Act is a deceptive ruse to the American people," said Murphy. "As families are struggling with a decline in real wages and skyrocketing costs, this disaster of a bill would devastate our economy and create the highest sustained tax burden in American history. From amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants and intrusive IRS bank surveillance to tax giveaways to the ultra-rich and massive socialist Green New Deal provisions, the Democrats' tax-and-spend spree is a foundational big government takeover designed to reshape America according to President Biden's socialist vision for the future - one that the American people have already rejected. In fact, over 70 percent of Americans believe that we are on the wrong track. Instead of listening to the American people, Democrats are doubling down, racing to pass their extreme, one-sided legislation before they likely forfeit their majority in the House.

Time and time again, House Democrats have told us to lower expectations and accept their socialist power grab, but Republicans know that American families deserve so much better. We need to lower gas prices, secure our border, stop the flood of drugs coming up from Mexico, bring back our economy, build up American families, create jobs, bring Americans and allies home from Afghanistan, bolster American energy, and provide a better future for our children. That effort starts with getting our financial house in order and putting American families first - above Speaker Pelosi's socialist priorities. We are now straddling our grandchildren with the greatest tax burden in American history. The American people and our progeny cannot afford this pathway to socialism."
