On Christmas Day, Rep. Eric Swalwell, who routinely condemns members of the political party across the aisle and himself was warned by the FBI about his ties to a Chinese spy, targeted the man who said, "Let's Go Brandon" to President Biden on a phone call, calling him and Republican leaders who celebrated him "indecent to the core." He tweeted:

Don't waste your time on the pathetic dad who humiliated his family to say F-U to the president on Christmas Eve. He's irrelevant. Spend your time asking why Republican leaders are celebrating him. This isn't my parents' Republican Party. This new crew are indecent to their core.

Jared Schmeck, a former police officer and father of four from Oregon, ended a Christmas phone call with Biden by saying, "Let's go Brandon." He told The Oregonian/Oregon Live that he has received threats since making the comment, but says that he meant no ill will against the president and doesn't even dislike him - he only meant to voice his frustrations in what he perceived as a "joking manner," The Daily Wire reported, adding, "At the end of the day, I have nothing against Mr. Biden, but I am frustrated because I think he can be doing a better job. I mean no disrespect to him."

As for Swalwell, The Daily Wire reported in December 2020 of his machinations:

A suspected Chinese spy operating in the Bay Area during the Obama administration reportedly got so close to Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) that the FBI had to intervene and provide him with a defensive briefing. Fang's ties to Swalwell began when he was a councilmember for Dublin City, California, which is part of China's long-term strategy of getting in with people before they make it big on the national stage. Fang met Swalwell through a Chinese student organization and by 2014 had quickly "developed close ties to Swalwell's office" and was a "bundler" for him - meaning that she helped him bring in big donors.

Axios noted, "Amid a widening counterintelligence probe, federal investigators became so alarmed by Fang's behavior and activities that around 2015 they alerted Swalwell to their concerns - giving him what is known as a defensive briefing. Swalwell immediately cut off all ties to Fang, according to a current U.S. intelligence official, and he has not been accused of any wrongdoing."

Chinese national Christine Fang, "targeted up-and-coming local politicians in the Bay Area and across the country who had the potential to make it big on the national stage" through "campaign fundraising, extensive networking, personal charisma, and romantic or sexual relationships," Axios reported. "Even though U.S. officials do not believe Fang received or passed on classified information, the case 'was a big deal, because there were some really, really sensitive people that were caught up' in the intelligence network, a current senior U.S. intelligence official said."
