Ocasio-Cortez Staffer Calls Israel ‘Racist European Ethnostate’ | Eastern North Carolina Now

    On Christmas Eve, a staffer for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called Israel "a racist European ethnostate built on stolen land from its indigenous population."

    Hussain Altamimi, who began his tenure as a legislative assistant to Ocasio-Cortez last month, posted an Instagram story in which he wrote, "Israel is a racist European ethnostate built on stolen land from its indigenous population!" Fox News Digital took a screenshot of the post.

    Altamimi was responding to a post from an account that stated: "This reveals the principle underpinning Israeli apartheid: It's not about where you're born. It's about whether you're Jewish or non-Jewish. Your ethnicity determines your rights [and] level in the racial hierarchy. ... Israel is an exclusive ethnostate, established to serve one ethnic group at the expense of another."

    "One post by the account is titled 'The Ethnic Cleansing of Jerusalem' and claims Israel has been engaging in the "ethnic cleansing" of Palestinians since taking control of East Jerusalem in the late 1960s," Yahoo News reported. "Another post presents "key Palestinian actors" as Pokémon cards - including the terrorist organizations Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine."

    In September, Ocasio-Cortez appeared to cry after the House passed a bill to fund Israel's Iron Dome, which protects the Jewish state from rocket attacks from the terrorist groups Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north.

    Ocasio-Cortez did not support funding Iron Dome, which intercepted approximately 90% of the rockets fired out of Gaza in May 2021.

    In July 2019 Ocasio-Cortez said that Palestinians "have no choice but to riot" against Israel in an interview on "Ebro in the Morning" with host Ebro Darden. The Daily Wire reported:

    Ocasio-Cortez "absolutely" agreed with Darden that Israel was "very, very criminal" and "very, very unjust," as Darden claimed there are "white supremacist Jews."

    Later in the interview, Ocasio-Cortez justified violence from the Palestinian people against Israel, saying: "I believe that injustice is a threat to the safety of all people, because once you have a group that is marginalized and marginalized and marginalized - once someone doesn't have access to clean water, they have no choice but to riot, right?"

    In July 2018, in an interview on PBS's "Firing Line" with host Margaret Hoover, Ocasio-Cortez called Israel the "occupiers" of "Palestine." One critic fired back at her, "Dear @Ocasio2018, Keep my country's name out of your mouth. Your ignorance re Israel and the Palestinian conflict is not bliss. All you're doing is inciting against Israelis (Jews), while stuttering to make sense. Stay in your lane, and educate yourself, child."

    Another critic echoed: "I don't know this woman's politics, and I no longer live in the US. Her ignorance of the conflict does not keep her declaring who is right and who is wrong. This is indicative of most people who speak about Israel/Palestinian conflict. Utterly decisive in their utter ignorance."
