Tom Hanks Will Narrate Video Celebrating Biden’s First Year | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Actor Tom Hanks will extol the job done by President Biden in his first year in office, acting as the narrator in a video produced Biden's Presidential Inaugural Committee celebrating Biden's first anniversary in office and asserting how well America is doing.

    The video will be "blanketing today's airwaves - from breakfast to evening news to prime time - with a video promoting a recovering, resilient America," Axios reports, adding, "The committee, which was nominated for an Emmy, is spending several million dollars in leftover inaugural funds to air the ad on broadcast and cable TV today. The PIC then will spend a similar amount over the next week to amplify the video on digital platforms."

    The Presidential Inaugural Committee told Axios: "In recognition of the President's first year in office, the Biden-Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee believed it was important to celebrate the strength and perseverance of the American people in the face of extraordinary adversity, just as we did a year ago today. ... Through the voices of those Americans - including some who participated in last year's celebration - the video also highlights the progress that's been made over the last year."

    "Past inaugural committees have used leftover funds in various ways, including donating to the White House Historical Association or renovations in the presidential residence," Axios noted.

    Last year, Hanks hosted Biden and Kamala Harris' Inauguration Day TV special, Celebrating America, and referred to Washington D.C. as "our nation's secured capital city," stating:

    I'm at the Lincoln Memorial, on the National Mall, in our nation's secured capital city...

    In April 2017, Hanks joined former President Barack Obama on a trip in French Polynesia. The Daily Mailreported, "The former First Couple joined Bruce Springsteen Tom Hanks and their wives on music mogul David Geffen's superyacht Rising Sun on Friday, making quite the splash as they arrived at the vessel off the island of Mo'orea in a spruced up speedboat."

    The Daily Mail reported in April 2020, "Former First Lady Michelle Obama held a 'couch party' along with Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson on Monday night in an event designed to encourage people to sign up for mail-in voting. On Monday night Michelle Obama spoke to Hanks and Wilson on the telephone as part of a 'voter registration' event."
