Virginia GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin has implemented a tip line for parents to report teachers that teach subjects considered "divisive."

Youngkin stated on the "John Fredericks Show":

We have set up a particular e-mail address, called helpeducation@governor.virginia.gov. For parents to send us any instances where they feel that their fundamental rights are being violated, where their children are not being respected, where there are inherently divisive practices in their schools. We're asking for input right from parents to make sure we can go right to the source as we continue to work to make sure that Virginia's education system is on the path to reestablish excellence. At the end of the day, we are going to raise standards. We are going to have the largest education budget in the history of Virginia; we are going to raise teacher pay; we are going to invest in facilities; we are going to invest in special education for kids with disabilities; we're going to get Critical Race Theory and other divisive teaching practices out of the schools, and we're going to press forward on our charter school agenda big-time. This is what I ran on and this is what we are going to work every day to make happen.

Youngkin continued, "We're asking for folks to send us reports and observations that they have that will help us be aware of things like 'privileged bingo,' be aware of their child being denied their rights that parents have in Virginia, and we're going to make sure that we catalogue it all. And that gives us a greater insight into what's happening at the school level and that gives us further, further ability to make sure we're rooting it out."

"We all know this: that parents have a fundamental right in Virginia to make decisions with regard to their kids' education, their upbringing and their care," Youngkin asserted. "There is no one better positioned to look after the health and well-being of their child than their parents. ... If there's one thing that hopefully everybody heard in November it's that it is time to listen to parents."

Responding to school districts that have balked at his executive order allowing parents to make decisions on whether their child wears a mask in school, Youngkin stated, "Is it a surprise that some of these school systems ... aren't recognizing the rights of parents today? Oh, by the way, they haven't been recognizing the rights of parents all along. And so I'm not surprised at all to hear these reactions from school boards that have consistently prioritized bureaucrats and politicians over the rights of parents."

Youngkin stated on his website: "I have said all along that we are going to stand up for parents. Executive Order 2 is not about pro-masks versus anti-mask, it's about empowering parents. I am confident that the Virginia Supreme Court will rule in the favor of parents, reaffirming the parental rights clearly laid out in the Virginia code § 1-240.1. In the meantime, I urge all parents to listen to their principal, and trust the legal process. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at helpeducation@governor.virginia.gov."

Youngkin spokesperson Macaulay Porter has stated regarding the blowback to Youngkin's executive order, "The governor and attorney general are in coordination and are committed to aggressively defending parents´ fundamental right to make decisions with regard to their child´s upbringing, education and care, as the legal process plays out."
