DeSantis Smashes Media: Don’t Let Them Whitewash Dems’ Failures, Hypocrisy On COVID-19 | Eastern North Carolina Now

    On Wednesday, Florida GOP governor Ron DeSantis, taking note of the Democrats' sudden move to take credit for eliminating the crushing lockdowns and mask mandates they had cruelly imposed on the American public the last two years and the legacy media's willingness to play along with that contention, fired on Twitter, "The legacy media will try to whitewash the Left's failures and hypocrisy. Don't let them just move on to the next narrative."

    DeSantis wrote on Twitter:

    From the onset of the pandemic, corporate media outlets were advocating for lockdowns, school closures, and forced masking of children. Two years later? The facts show lockdowns didn't work, masks didn't reduce spread, and that Democrats followed politics - not science.

    Even worse, our school children were used as pawns in their political games. The legacy media will try to whitewash the Left's failures and hypocrisy. Don't let them just move on to the next narrative.

    New York Democrat Congressman Sean Maloney boasted on Thursday, "Democrats' plan to fight COVID is working - cases are down & vaccines are widely available. Now, it's time to give people their lives back. With science as our guide, we're ready to start getting back to normal."

    Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro fired back, "You're a damned joke. Democrats have literally nothing to do with the drop in covid cases, and vaccines were widely available because of the development and distribution plan developed prior to Biden becoming president. The rational among us have been back to normal for a YEAR."

    On Tuesday, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), a likely candidate to replace Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi when she retires, bragged that President Joe Biden's leadership was responsible for the burgeoning number of states and municipalities that have either set dates to roll back their mask mandates or removed them.

    The Daily Wire reported:

    A reporter asked Jeffries to weigh in on the states that had announced an end - or an end date - to indoor mask mandates. He mentioned California, where the mandates will only remain in place for the unvaccinated, along with Connecticut, New Jersey, and Delaware - and he asked Jeffries to respond to criticisms that Democrats were in a hurry to put the pandemic behind them as the 2022 midterm elections approached.

    "Here's where we are in America," Jeffries began. "Job creation is up, wages are up, unemployment is down, and the Omicron variant is in retreat - and that's not by accident."

    "That's because under President Biden's leadership, a public health infrastructure was put into place, beginning with the American Rescue Plan - without a single Republican vote - to ensure that we can do everything possible to crush the virus, and that is what has been happening," Jeffries continued, adding, "Through the trials and tribulations of a once in a century pandemic, through the Delta variant, now through the Omicron variant."
