Press Release:

    Good afternoon,

If there were any questions as to why half of North Carolinians disapprove of Joe Biden and 60 percent of North Carolinians think that the country is on the wrong track, just consider his lies about inflation.

First, Biden called inflation "transitory." Then he claimed inflation was at its "peak." Both claims were false.

MYTH: On December 10, Biden said "I think it's the peak of the [inflation] crisis."

FACTS: Since then, prices have continued to surge.

    In December:

  • Consumer prices rose 7.0%, the fastest pace in almost 40 years.
  • Producer prices rose 9.8%, the largest hike on record.

    In January:

  • Consumer prices spiked at 7.5%, the new fastest pace in 40 years.
  • Producer prices rose 1% in a SINGLE MONTH and 9.7% year over year, remaining near record highs.

And the evidence indicates things are only getting worse. Even liberal economists blame the " tremendous wall" of money in Biden's reckless spending agenda for inflation. Now, 47% of small businesses have raised prices and an additional 32% say they will have to if supply costs continue to rise. And despite Biden's assurances, gas prices are at near 8-year highs and only going higher. Biden's destructive economic agenda is being seen throughout North Carolina:

  • In Raleigh: North Carolina families are feeling the "pinch of soaring inflation."
  • In Charlotte: Families are feeling the "sting of inflation" as prices for gas and groceries increase.
  • In Asheville: Businesses are struggling to afford the goods necessary to produce due to inflation, the labor shortage and the supply-chain crisis.
  • In Greensboro: Car dealerships are having to "revert back to focus on in their used inventory" due to the high cost and low production of microchips for newer cars.
  • In Greenville: Parents are overwhelmed with the rising costs associated with child-rearing including the increase in the cost of diapers and baby formula.

When North Carolina Democrats like Cheri Beasley go to bat for Joe Biden or stay silent on inflation, they are actively enabling Biden-imposed price hikes on North Carolinians. Biden insisted Americans should have "peace of mind " in their struggle to afford basic necessities. But when Biden's only solution to his 40-year inflation high is to lie, his contempt for hard-working Americans is that much more clear.

"Joe Biden's inflation lies make it clear that he cares about hard-working North Carolinians even less than they care about him." - RNC Spokeswoman Alex Nolley
