RALEIGH, Oct. 23, 2012     The National Federation of Independent Business, the state's leading small-business association, said today that it has endorsed Dan Forest for lieutenant governor.

"Dan Forest clearly understands the vital role small businesses and other job creators play in our state's economy," said Gregg Thompson, state director of NFIB/North Carolina.

"He understands that small businesses, not the government or unions, create jobs," Thompson said. "His commitment to lower taxes, sensible regulations and better education make him the clear choice to become lieutenant governor," he said.

"I am proud to carry the endorsement of the NFIB," Forest said. "If elected, I will work hard to get the excessive tax and regulatory environment lifted from the backs of our small-business community and will work to make sure that North Carolina remains a right-to-work state."

NFIB's political support is based on the candidate's position and record on small-business issues. The endorsement comes from the NFIB/North Carolina SAFE (Save America's Free enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/North Carolina's membership.

Today's endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state's small businesses behind Forest's campaign. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for encouraging friends, family members and acquaintances to vote.

NFIB will encourage its 8,100 members in North Carolina to help turn out the important small-business voting bloc on Election Day.
