Press Release:

    Good afternoon,

Diesel prices in North Carolina and around the country have recently broken new records, with diesel averaging $5.10 a gallon in North Carolina today - a set of new highs for Bidenflation and new lows for North Carolina farmers.

Diesel fuels more than two-thirds of farm equipment in the country. Farmers know that rising diesel prices will make it more expensive to grow their crops as heavy equipment like tractors and combines are required throughout the season. That's all on top of historically high fertilizers and pesticides prices.

It's not just farmers who are going to take the hit. Nearly every facet of the agricultural sector is set for a hammering due to skyrocketing diesel prices. That's because diesel engines power:

  • 100 percent of marine river grain barges and ocean-going vessels.
  • 100 percent of freight train locomotives.
  • 96 percent of large trucks.

Overall, 90 percent of America's agricultural output is transported using engines fueled by diesel. Rising diesel prices mean rising costs from planting and harvesting crops to transporting them off the farm - costs that are only going to fuel our worsening 40-year record inflation rate.

As a result, Democrat Senate candidate Cheri Beasley is trying to flip the script and pretend that she actually cares about lowering costs for farmers when in reality, members of her own party are the ones who've caused it. The Democrats have launched an anti-energy crusade that included: reinstating cumbersome Obama-era regulations, cracking down on the financing of fossil fuel extraction, scrapping the Keystone XL pipeline, and restricting drilling on federal lands. It's all part of Biden's explicit campaign pledge to transition the U.S. away from fossil fuels by pricing them out of reach for everyday Americans. Maybe Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg's next bright idea will be telling everyone to just get electric tractors, combines, locomotives, trucks, barges, and ships.

"North Carolina farmers know that Joe Biden and the Democrats' anti-energy crusade is to blame for their current hardships and no amount of wordsmithing on Cheri Beasley's part will convince them otherwise." - RNC Spokeswoman Alex Nolley
