Two Republican Parties in Beaufort County | Eastern North Carolina Now

Fed up with politicians talking a good talk but not walking the walk?

ENCNow

We have heard it since the mid 1990’s.  Our experience tells us it is true.  There are two Republican parties.  One is the true and tested organization that adheres to the Constitution.  The other is infested with RINO’s.  That is true at the national level and at the state level in North Carolina.  That’s why Roy Cooper is Governor, and not Dan Forest.  The same is true in Beaufort County.   We suspect there are two GOP’s in every other county in the United States.  There were two Democrat Parties at one time.  Just like the present-day Republican Party, there were conservative Democrats and there were liberal Democrats.  We know how that worked out.  The liberals won, drove out the conservatives and now the socialists, with a strong element that are actually communists  control the Democrat Party  They believe government should own and control everything.  Unless major changes are made in the Democrat Party, it is in a death spiral.

All those conservative Democrats became Republicans or independents (unaffiliated).  The Republican Party split when conservative Democrats and RINO’s (Republicans in Name only) joined.   Some of these RINO’s do vote conservatively but every once in a while their roots show their natural color.  Many RINO’s do not even try to cover up except, when they are running for reelection.

There is no better example than the Beaufort County GOP.

The situation in the Beaufort County Republican Party during the last 20 years has been one of conflict between RINO’s and conservative Republicans. When elected to the Board of Commissioners or the School Board, liberal Republicans formed alliances with the Democrats to control things.  The present collaboration of Frankie Waters and John Rebholz voting with Democrats Langley and Booth has brought us many disappointing situations.

They refuse to control our out-of-control Sheriff.  Commissioners appropriate the money but the gang of four (Waters, Rebholz, Booth and Langley) just cannot say no to the sheriff or any other big spender.  We have wasted millions in the sheriff’s department alone, to say nothing of the water department, the 1.6 million  spent for building a jail at Chocowinity and the loss of the hospital in Belhaven.

Money is piling up in the coffers of the county but the gang of four are so greedy they cannot bear reducing taxes.

Outsiders like Senator Bill Cook and Paul Varco, along with their friends who recently moved to Beaufort County, got control of the Beaufort County Executive Committee three years ago.  They seized power using methods not contained in the Party Plan of Organization. Bill Cook created a super executive Committee which exists to this day.  They circumvented the will of the full executive committee by deciding the officers of the party would make all of the decisions.  That is the chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer ran the party without bringing the business of the party to the executive committee.  The super executive committee spent money the way they wanted to spend it.  They used the party to support their Republican candidates and to work against the conservative element in the party.  They used the party machinery to campaign for John Rebholz and defeat Tandy Dunn.  The result is Rebholtz and Waters vote with the Democrats.

There is no provision in the rules (Plan of Organization) for the super executive committee to exist. Bill Cook started this and it is a violation of party rules.

Because of the redistricting lawsuits, there is very little time to campaign in the primary elections this year.  Early voting begins in less than two weeks.  The liberal Republicans do not have time to manipulate the party apparatus.  For example, many workers in the  Republican head quarters instructed visitors on who to vote for in the primary.  The short amount of time available in this off-year election means a lot of people will not visit the head quarters or be available for telephone and email solicitation. The liberal Republicans  have to be more visible to get their job done.

The liberal players have identified themselves.  Several liberal Republicans, like Bill Cook, are throwing fundraiser parties for their favorite candidates.  The designated liberal  Republicans are Dawn Slann and Frankie Waters.

Dawn Slann was asked in a public meeting if she would support a Republican Commissioner Chairman without joining with Democrats if she were elected.   She was ask 3 or 4 times before she mumbled an answer that sounded like she “maybe” would.  She has made other statements about “reaching across the aisle.” Usually, most politicians will vote for a good idea regardless of party.  To campaign about cooperating with Democrats is our first clue that she cannot be depended on to support the Republican platform, (which is conservative).

Republicans need to be aware that there are only two truly conservative candidates running in the primary.  They are Stan Deatherage and Tandy Dunn.  Both have announced that they support a ten percent reduction in taxes.  The money is there. The reduction can happen without having to reduce any services.  So why not give the public their money back?

Neither Frankie Waters nor Dawn Slann have announced that they will vote to reduce taxes ten percent.  That tells you, the Republican Primary voter, all you really need to know.  You should know that a vote for a RINO is a vote for the Democrat control of our County Commission which means ever increased spending, more backroom deals and bigger government.  If you are fed up with politicians saying one thing when they are running and then voting the opposite once elected, then you should vote for true conservatives…Stan Deatherage and Tandy Dunn.

Electing Stan or Tandy is the right thing to do if you are conservative.  But it is just as important that four conservatives—a majority--be seated on the next County Commission.

With the limited voting system each voter gets one vote for County Commission.  In this election the top three vote getters will be seated.  Conservatives need to get two of the three seats.  One way to do this is for a block of conservative voters to “pair” their vote.  That is, one person votes for Stan and gets another conservative to vote for Tandy.  For example, a husband/wife team could pair their votes for Stan and Tandy.  Ideally, the person you would get to pair your vote with would otherwise not be voting in the election.  If enough conservatives get these “hesitant voters” to actually vote it could make a world of difference.  We could end up with a conservative County Commission.

Conservative Voter,

No sir/ma'am, I am not using it in the same way as Bluecoat Buzzeo. I find it ironic that Buzzeo used those terms..... considering the front game he was playing and the fact that he had so many fooled. I can sense when someone is of the tribe or if they're full of shit-o. To answer your question with one final statement:

I use the term with both militaristic and romantic intention. I do not use the term to deceive people.

Old Guard- the accepted heirarchy that has even shut out senior elder Conservatives because of the fact they were "red pilling" people. You know as well as I do who these people are.

New Guard- younger and more diverse patriots (patriotos), who come in peace but don't run from a fight, with abilities that could be enhanced by and with the cooperation of the Old Guard.

Regardless of what the "illuminated" state; things aren't what they appear to be. Both Republicans and Democrats need to admit the game is over. The illusion that is the two party system is finished.....and that's fact. It's on life support.

Strategy is everything with me.

Now that you mention Buzzeo, two other people connected with him possibly come to mind:

Varcoe and Kidwell, the dynamic duo who call patriotos "plants sent in by the DEMS" at Pitt County TEA Party meetings.....which is an actual conspiracy to demonize possible known patriotos that pose a perceived "threat". Connect the dots and do the research. I have and I can prove it.

I haven't taken the poison pill but according to some: I'm associated with QAnon and I write "Led Zeppelin Conspiracy Theories penned by Sheriff Coleman under candlelight". I like to make people wonder.....that's when the real QAnon (an organization created out of thin air by those who may be targets of both Q and Anonymous) conspiracy theories start flooding out. Watch the water.

What I am sick of is people trying to tell me how I and everybody else in Beaufort County should vote. What we have in this county has stalemated and stalemated by design. What I see is a futile effort to prolong something that is already dead.....but the upper echelon is yet accept it. After all, you can only vote for one.

I come in peace but all of this, the political disaster that sadly is BOCO and many other local governments across the Republic, is a self inflicted gunshot wound. It could have been stopped but both sides kept the ball in play. Common sense isn't partisan....it's a gift/weapon given to those who are capable of appreciating/wielding it.

This whole situation is inevitable. The Legacy option is very admirable. I hate that we are so divided when it comes to understanding and discernment. If the public were to wake up; it would definitely be an "attention getter", to quote the late Jackie Gleason.

Jann, I concur that all of us need to do our own research and more of it, and if we do, the choices in the county commission race get real simple. Among the incumbents, Stan Deatherage has a strong record of supporting the America First agenda and a pro-taxpayer agenda. Frankie Waters is the polar opposite, having a record hostile to both the taxpayers interests and the America First agenda. Those records are there to be researched and are very clear cut.

Researching the two non-incumbents is a bit more difficult. Tandy Dunn has a website with some info. Dawn Slann does not. Both have circulated campaign materials and spoken at events. Tandy consistently has shown himself to be a friend of the taxpayer, and when he had discussed it, supports an America First agenda. Slann's campaign material avoids taking issues on anything except being against "partisanship" (maybe running Unaffiliated would have been more honest of her). Her public appearances are all over the landscape, seemingly wanting to tell whatever group she was in front of what she thought they wanted to hear. She talked a conservative leaning game in front of the Beaufort County Conservative Club but pandered heavily to the Chamber of Commerce at the latest candidate forum at the Turnage Theatre. Where does she really stand? Who knows, but the attack on "partisanship" sounds a whole lot like the Uniparty. Prior to running, she did make some good statements against the government's Covid overreach, but she now seems to have gone silent on even that. She is a real "pig in a poke".

High taxes and wasteful spending have been endemic in Beaufort County during the reign of the coalition of leftwing Democrats and nominal Republicans. That is one of the biggest issues in the county commission campaign. Stan Deatherage has a strong record of standing up for the taxpayer. Tandy Dunn makes a strong case that he would do so. Frankie Waters has a record as a tax and spend liberal, no different from Jerry Langley. That pair is the new tax and spend twins. Then there is Dawn Slann who seems to want to avoid the issue, but many of her statements seem to indicate that she would team up with Langley just as Waters has done.

Slann has made some of the right noises against government overreach on Covid, but it was Stan Deatherage who actually led efforts to get Beaufort County to reject Roy Cooper's Covid overreach. It looked for a time like the RINOs on the commission would finally do something right and join the conservatives in standing up to Cooper, but in the end, they knuckled under to Langley and voted with the Democrats.

The only way that we are going to get the commission pointed in the right direction on any issue is to break Langley's hold on the RINOs. In his state House race, Langley submitted answers to an online questionaire that showed he was quite far to the left ideologically. Any Republican who would ally with Langley or even "comprosmise" with him is not much of a Republican. The two Republicans running who are trustworthy on that front are Deatherage and Dunn.

I agree with William Cratch! People need to do their OWN research and make the decision for themselves. I think that's how our country has gotten into such a mess over the years. People say they are too busy to research and just do whatever they are told.
RESEARCH
RESEARCH
RESEARCH!!!!!
GOD gave you your mind for a reason!

We have the Uniparty in Washington DC and also here in Beaufort County. In Washington, DC, it is Mitch McConnell that is its top operator. McConnell, who has strong personal financial ties to Red China, has been running interference on many key issues for Biden, including on many of Biden's spending boondoggles. There are also quite a number of Uniparty types in the House like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

In Beaufort County, the Uniparty is represented by the coalition between RINOs and far left Democrats on the county commission. Frankie Waters and Jerry Langley are the current Uniparty leaders there but other RINOs have allied with Langley in the past. Both Waters and Langley have voted against gun rights, for illegal immigration, and for big spending and high taxes. Their Uniparty coalition seeks to freeze out the conservatives. Just like Dawn Slann, they attack "partisanship". What makes you think Slann would be anything other than another puppet for the Uniparty? Everything I see in her campaign indicates that. If Slann is not Uniparty, then she needs to start showing it. We do not need a Beaufort County version of Liz Cheney.

Mr. Cratch, your use of the term "Old Guard" sticks out like a sore thumb. This was the very term that carpetbagger Ron Buzzeo, with his thick yankee accent and opposition to gun rights, used in his jihad to kick conservatives and Beaufort County natives out of the Beaufort County GOP a few years ago. Buzzeo had a few scalawags go along with his anti-conservative jihad. What do you mean by that term? Are you using it the same way Buzzeo did? I hope you have not fallen for that poison pill.

Time will tell.....won't it, sir?

I would ask the readers to deeply examine the Uniparty and all possibilities of who could be involved. I think most people can't even begin to imagine the depth of how far the Uniparty reaches.

Watch the water..future proves past.

In terms of our county commission, there are two sides, the uniparty of RINOs and Democrats led by Frankie Waters and Jerry Langley, who are tax and spend hogs, on one side, and the taxpayer-friendly conservatives on the other. Where does Dawn Slann stand? Her recent statement at her meet and greet in Cypress Landing that she wants to negotiate with the Democrats just reeks of uniparty. So does her statement on her palm cards about not making decisions on "partisanship". Things like that smell like Frankie Waters in a skirt. They are the same things that Frankie would say. On the other hand, there are some stances she has taken that would indeed look conservative. However, her main target in the primary seems to be conservative Stan Deatherage, a long proven friend of the taxpayers. If Slann has said anything in her campaign materials about reducing taxes, I seem to have missed it. Can you provide a reference? Our taxes in Beaufort County are far too high and the uniparty is responsible.
