The man suspected of shooting 10 people and causing the injuries of at least 19 more apparently called police to tell them where he was.

The Associated Press reported that the suspect, who will not be named per Daily Wire policy, called police to tell them that he could be found at a McDonald's in Manhattan's East Village, according to two law enforcement officials who weren't authorized to discuss the investigation. The suspect had already left by the time police arrived at the location, but New York Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Department Kenneth Corey told the outlet that the suspect was seen nearby on a busy corner.

Aleksei Korobow, who witnessed the arrest, told the AP that he saw four police cars rush past him, and when he found them, the suspect was already in handcuffs.

"There was nowhere left for him to run," Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell told the AP.

WPIX reported that a New Jersey man and his cousin helped police catch the suspect after he left the McDonald's on Wednesday. Zack Tahhan and his cousin Mo Cheikh said they saw the suspect holding a bag while walking down the street in the East Village. Tahhan said he warned people to stay away from him before they spotted police and pointed out the suspect.

"[He] was walking as if he didn't do anything, man," Cheikh told the outlet.

New York Attorney General Letitia James thanked Tahhan after seeing him explain what happened on Twitter. "Thank you for your bravery today, Zack," she wrote. "All of New York is grateful."

The suspect was apparently known to the FBI previously. "A federal law enforcement source told Newsweek that a suspect in Tuesday morning's Brooklyn subway attack was previously known to the FBI and was entered into the Guardian lead system in New Mexico, though he was cleared after multiple interviews in 2019," Newsweek reported.

The Daily Wire previously reported on the suspect's social media posts:

Heavy.com, a fact-finding website, identified a Facebook page allegedly belonging to the suspect which contained numerous posts that talked about shooting people and expressed other extreme views, including "black nationalism."

Andy Ngo, Editor-at-large for The Post Millennial, tweeted out screenshots from the Facebook account which featured posts that promoted the Black Liberation Army, Black Lives Matter, a photo of the man who murdered five police officers in Dallas in 2016, a photo calling to "kill all the whiteys," posts quoting communist Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, posts expressing support for shooting people, and posts demonizing former President Donald Trump.

YouTube videos allegedly uploaded by the suspect also showed extreme views, including one where he allegedly called 9/11 "the most beautiful day, probably in the history of this fucking world."

The suspect also allegedly ranted in the videos about white people, saying "the vast majority of people, white mother******* are racist."
