Answering Larry Britt, From the Horse's Mouth | Eastern North Carolina Now

Larry Britt will never get answers from the Beaufort Observer that satisfy his false curiosity. Larry does not see his questioning as false because he is not principled. Notice I did not say "principled Republican" Larry fits the pattern of several local so called Republican activists who just want the prestige of winning. A good example is the gang who recruited Democrat Arthur Williams and then turned against the conservative Republican who beat him. Mattie Lawson lost her House race because RINO's (Republicans In Name Only) campaigned against her in the general election. To that crowd, it does not matter how they win, they just want to feel important.

Al Klemm cannot explain a single one of his votes, cast to generate a more than 84 percent Democrat voting record, other than to say he does not like Hood Richardson. Al has never been able to define Republican principles such as lower taxes, smaller government and more individual freedom as they apply to any of his votes. Al has a lot of political buddies and he votes the way he thinks they want him to vote. Those buddies are all Democrats either in name or character because they do no like Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage either.

Here is why it is not wrong for Hood Richardson to vote for Democrat Jerry Langley, but it is wrong for Al Klemm to vote for Jerry Lanagley. My votes for Langley came at a time when, in my opinion, our hospital valued at more than 50 million dollars was secretly being set up to be given to University Health Systems. I have stated each year since 1997 that there were severe problems with the way the Beaufort County Hospital was run. In particular, not having a cash reserve was a clear signal that sooner or later the hospital would become bankrupt. Jerry Langley and Ed Booth became alarmed when hospital board members reported to them that the hospital was out of money and several board members seemed to be setting the give away into motion. Langley and Booth could not go to Klemm and Jay McRoy for help because Al Klemm was controlled by Jay McRoy.

Langley, Booth, Stan Deatherage and myself decided to make Langley Chairman and appoint me to he hospital board to replace Jay McRoy. Hodpital baord member,McRoy, had reported, every year that every thing was ok at the hospital. The Hospital had been thru the Jeanie Jones debacle without the public being fully satisfied. We knew Al Klemm would never vote to remove Jay McRoy from the Hospital Board. Yes, I admit, I voted for Democrat Langley to try to save county citizens at least 50 million dollars. We did not save the Hospital but we do know what went on over there. We lost the hospital because of a lack of oversight and good buddy politics.

It is wrong for Al Klemm to Vote for Democrat Jerry Langley because he did it to try to save his personal legacy with the Economic Development Commission. Al is the self appointed "Economic Development Commissioner" and has a hand in all of the small amount of good and a very large amount of bad the EDC has accomplished. Some of these inept failures are the loss of 1.2 million dollars on Quick Start II, the failed Industrial Park South, , the as much as one half million dollars the County has to return to the State because of the Carver Machine expansion. Both myself and Stan Deatherage believe Al cut a deal to keep the same EDC board members including himself in office. The Economic Personality Cult knows that replacing all the present EDC board members is and indictment of their miserable failure in spending 6.5 million dollars with nothing to show for it. So, Al voted for Jerry Langley for his personal benefit which is to cover his economic development tracks. Al Klemm's RINO tracks are large and deep and very difficult to hide.

Larry talks about how I have attacked other Republicans. I have only attacked RINO's. I have not attacked Republicans. Another smoke and mirrors game Larry plays is to tell us how conservative he is and how much he agrees with Hood Richardson, he can not give a single example. Larry committed the ultimate disloyalty sin as Chairman of the Republican Party when he wrote letters to the editor criticizing Hood Richardson as an elected official. He is shallow enough to believe that because he never spelled my name in the letters his disloyalty was not noticed. Larry should spend a few quiet minutes pondering why he lost his primary election for county commissioner. Could it be he never showed Republicans he was actually conservative or could it be his obvious lack of Republican loyalty?

Larry Britt certifies himself as a true RINO with the statement: "I don't believe that the Democrats have done immense damage to this County." This means Britt approves of the location of US 17, the almost ten million dollars of overspending on schools, the 6.5 million of waste in Economic Development, the loss of the hospital and the lack of oversight in the Health and Sheriffs Departments. All of these disasters were accomplished with the votes of Al Klemm and the Democrats. Britt goes on to make and astounding statement, the kind psychiatrists use to determine whether a patient is connected to reality or not. Britt writes: "I don't believe Al Klemm voted for a Democrat for Chairman". In the face of Jerry Langley being a registered Democrat that statement alone makes Britt a certified RINO and leaves the psychiatrist shaking his head. Larry Britt, it is about reality, not what you want the world to be.

Britt goes back to attacking conservative Republicans when he writes: "If Stan was elected Chairman it would be a disaster for the County Commissioners". Britt offers no proof, or even his opinion as to why Stan would be a disaster. Larry Britt and Al Klemm do exactly what they accuse Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage of doing. They personally attack and smear Republicans, not over ideals but because Britt and Klemm are wastelands of political principle and character. The only way these two intellectual and political giants can get ahead is to take others down.

Al Klemm's political and intellectual abilities are documented on DVD at every Commissioners meeting. Larry Britt has demonstrated his intellectual and political capacity in his writings. Simply condemning someone else is not debate. Neither one of these RINO's has ever provided a political alternative to any of their criticisms they have made of Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage. Both are very good at calling for compromise and then voting or agreeing with Democrats. In order to have compromise both parties have to be reasonably in reasonably close agreement, otherwise it is called surrender.

This "I'm Okay, You're Okay" mentality of the squishy liberal wing of the Republican Party is destroying the Republican brand.

Furthermore, the RINO wing has conveniently adapted to the Democrat's idea of bipartisanship, which is a lesson I learned decades ago.

That lesson learned from the Democrat super majority ruling Beaufort County: "Stan, you need learn bipartisanship, and govern like us - just do it our way."

RINOs despise men of principle because they cannot be co-opted to do it their way - give them the power of the purse, the power of total control.

Their maxim of celebrating, and managing, the co-opted politician to the exclusion of a principled government is just as destructive as the extra-liberal policies of today's Democrat.

If bipartisanship means the philosophical marriage between the co-opted RINO and the ultra liberal Democrat for the betterment of the Republic, it will be an unprincipled marriage made in Hell. If this is how the Republic moves forward ... why bother?

We, our nation, our land, our Republic would already be in the death spiral and our every motion, in that vein, would be the movements of the walking dead.

So ... to all of those squishy, carefree joiners; only to go along, to get along, to strive to just fit in, and to always endeavor to never think too deeply on the weighty subjects that truly matter to the very survival of our Republic, I reiterate: Why bother?
