All Respect Is Lost When Their Name Is On The Ballot | Eastern North Carolina Now | The New York Times has selectively called out Republicans for not promising to accept the 2022 results – however, they’ve lost track of a few key stories regarding Democrats’ views of elections dating back to 2016.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Press Release:

The New York Times has selectively called out Republicans for not promising to accept the 2022 results - however, they've lost track of a few key stories regarding Democrats' views of elections dating back to 2016.

Democrats have done more than deny elections, so here's a few reminders:

  • In 2016, North Carolina Democrats filed a lawsuit in an attempt to restructure the elections board.
  • In 2018, North Carolina Democrats filed a lawsuit to nullify the state's voter I.D. amendment.
  • Following the North Carolina Supreme Court race in 2020, Cheri Beasley wanted to restore thousands of ballots that her campaign believe were "wrongfully rejected," but only if they were Democrats.
  • In 2022, North Carolina Democrats have worked to keep the Green Party off the ballot in order to send more votes in Cheri Beasley's direction.
  • They denied 15,953 verified signatures the Green Party needed to be on the 2022 ballot. When asked by North Carolina Green Party lawyer Oliver Hall, their response was to "go ahead and mute Mr. Hall."

And in case The New York Times needs anymore, here are two credible examples of Democrats denying election results.

"Cheri Beasley and other Democrats have a repeated history of denying North Carolina elections. Selective memory by mainstream media is not helpful to anyone." - RNC Spokeswoman Taylor Mazock
