Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed during a House hearing Thursday that abortion was an economic issue because if women are not allowed to have an abortion, then parents are effectively "conscripted" to work against their will.

AOC made the remarks during a House Oversight Committee hearing about abortion where she also decided to disclose what she uses for birth control.

"Abortion is an economic issue," Ocasio-Cortez claimed. "Forcing poor and working-class people to give birth against their will, against their consent, against their ability to provide for themselves or a child, is a profound economic issue and it's certainly a way to keep a workforce basically conscripted to large-scale employers and to employers to work more against their will, to take second and third jobs against their desire and their own autonomy."

Ocasio-Cortez also decided to disclose during the hearing that she uses an intrauterine device, or IUD.

"I, for example, since Republicans are forcing this conversation in uncomfortable ways, then I will meet them to it," Ocasio-Cortez said. "I have an IUD. I've had one for years."

During the hearing, a medical doctor for Planned Parenthood falsely claimed that men can get pregnant and have babies.

In response to a question from Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA), Kumar, medical director for primary and trans care at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast claimed, "Men can have pregnancies, especially trans men."

"Somebody with a uterus may have the capability of becoming pregnant, whether they're a woman or a man," Kumar claimed. "That doesn't make a difference."

    "OK, we're done," Clyde replied.

"Not every person with a uterus has the ability to become pregnant," Kumar said. "This is medicine."

"I can't believe it's necessary to say this, but men cannot get pregnant and cannot give birth, regardless of how they identify themselves," Clyde said. "Why in the world would Democrats have brought in a person whose title is 'director of trans care' for an abortion hearing when only biological women can become pregnant?"
