Earl Eborn Tetterton | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Mr. Earl Eborn Tetterton, age 85, a resident of Pinetown, died Thursday, November 10, 2022, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

    A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2022, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

    Mr. Tetterton was born in Beaufort County on January 3, 1937. He was the son of the late Jesse C. Tetterton and Bessie Foskey Tetterton. Mr. Tetterton served in the U.S. Army and went on to graduate from East Carolina University. Mr. Tetterton taught school in Virginia before working as a building contractor. Later, he farmed and started his own trucking company.

    Mr. Tetterton served eight years as a Beaufort County commissioner, three years as chairman. He served on the Beaufort County Hospital Board and the Beaufort County Social Services Board. Mr. Tetterton was a Shriner and member of the Terra Ceia Church of Christ. He was a member in good standing of the Hardees Coffee Club. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid reader of historical fiction.

    On December 18, 1960, Mr. Tetterton married the former Lois Biggs, who survives.

    Surviving with his wife are three sons, Patrick Tetterton and Linda, Erick Tetterton and wife, Dawn all of Pinetown, Derick Tetterton and wife, Hope of Pantego; daughter, Lorie Alligood and husband, Glenn of Pinetown; eight grandchildren, Bradley Tetterton, Kaitlyn Cooper and husband Bryant, Greyson Tetterton, Madison Tetterton, Bethany Alligood, Mollie Tetterton, and Natalie Alligood; sister, Lucinda T. Poole of Belhaven; and brother, Jesse Ray Tetterton of Pinetown.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Tetterton was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Tetterton and a brother, William Dallas "Dal" Tetterton.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 2102 S. Glenburnie Road, New Bern, N.C. 28562 or Pinetown Rescue & EMS, 7262 North Boyd Road, Pinetown, N.C. 27865.
