Cristian Luis Hernandez is one of those students who make Chocowinity Primary School such a special place to be. The 8-year-old son of Paula Hernandez and Alberto Santos, is a third grade student in Trish Clayton's classroom.

"He models daily the characteristics of an outstanding citizen in our classroom and in our school," Clayton said of Cristian. "He is kind to his classmates and is a friend to all. He is respectful of me and demonstrates that he truly values the education he is receiving in my classroom and at Chocowinity Primary School. Consistently striving to do all things to the best of his ability, he is a conscientious and hard-working student. Each morning when we say the Pledge of Allegiance, he stands straight and tall, proudly reciting the words, and the look on his face speaks as loud as his voice! Cristian is a student on whom I know that I can depend to do the right thing whether in our classroom, on the playground or in any other area of Chocowinity Primary School." Cristian said his favorite school subject is reading, and when not in school he enjoys playing games with his family and visiting relatives. (Chocowinity Primary School/Contributed)
